For those of you who think Belly is a Redneck you couldn’t be more wrong. I have a truck, shoot guns, enjoy to out doors, can food, smoke meats, can survival in the wilds … I don’t hunt, trap, camping or fish.</SPAN>

When I was a kid my grandpa and I would do all this, I learned the skills of being an Outdoors Sportsman. </SPAN>

Who here on the OC are Hunters, Trappers and Fisherman?</SPAN>
… please tell us a little about what you enjoy, the equipment and the adventure of your hobby </SPAN></SPAN>

Until proven otherwise I'll claim top fisherman on the OC. Former Lake Erie Charter Capt. with over a dozen Fish Ohio walleyes thru the years. Fish Ohio smallmouths, crappie and white drum also. Have caught dozens of Tarpon, Snook and Bonefish in FL with the largest being a 6'6" / 165 lb Tarpon on 20 lb test. Have boated white marlin and sockeye tuna off the canyons near Ocean City, MD and Permt in the Bahamas. Rainbows and Brown trout in CO and WY and largemouth bass in So Cal. Go ahead prove me wrong.

When I was first married the wife and I lived in Perrysburg we had a sail boat (first was a 24 O'Day, second was a 34 Columbia) out of Monroe Harbor. Lake Erie Perch and Walley are the best eating fish ...

Wow! That great Tiermen

You got that right Belly...I'll put a lightly beer-battered perch sandwich up against the the most expensive Ahi Tuna plate in the world as being the best tasting fish dish!

Caught a 22lb octopus once in Anguilla on a bass plug fishing for Ladyfish. Thought I had snagged on a rock and then the rock tugged back! I finally wrestled him off the coral and the cook back at the hotel sauteed that sucker up and it fed about 6 of us.

I deer hunt and small game hunt a lot. Turkey hunt in the spring. Do a tiny bit of waterfowl hunting whenever invited, that's usually cold and miserable but end up killing a lot.

I am an awful fisherman. I did get Master Angler twice as a kid, but that was fishing alum and hoover like 5 times a week for the whole summer.

Ha ha LJ...I remember the old Master Angler program, you had to catch either 4 or 5 different Fish Ohio size species in the same calendar year right? I wonder if they still have that progarm? Haven't heard anyone mention that one in years.

You know of course you've now set yourself up for ccrunner to call you a "Master Baiter" right?

Erie Perch is a great fish and Walleye you are correct wonderful eating fish. I have had different fish, prepared all over the world &#8230; Perch and Walleye are tops.
Lake Coho Salmon is my favorite however..

Back in the day (1971-) people could snag Sheep Head and Walleye from the banks of the Maumee River or off the old Maumee / Perrysburg Bridge
I was volunteer fireman with the Perrysburg department &#8230; it was crazy almost a drowning or two every weekend &#8230; I think in 1973 no more snagging but still guys in waders slipped in the rushing Maumee river

Do any hunting with a Musket Rifle? I think that would be a challenge.

Yeah they still do Fish Ohio and Master Angler. Old retired guys like my dad who spend every day from March-October fishing go after them. I think he is already at 3 Fish Ohio for this year. Going for his 5th straight Master Angler.

A musket? No. I do Muzzleloader hunt, but that is just basically a single shot rifle anymore.

That is impressive! I don't fish Ohio as much anymore, kinda have got more into salt water trips. But if you can catch 5 different good size species in Ohio waters you are definitely doing something right.

I've most enjoy white water kayaking but I haven't done any since college, canoed a lot as a kid, ski when I can (nordic or alpine), backpacking or sometimes just day hikes, rock climb but not for a while.

I've never been hunting nor plan to, I know how to fish but don't particularly enjoy it.

I havent done trapping since I was younger, but still do hunting and fishing.

Went out to Lake Erie in Geneva last weekend for the first time. Caught 2 Fish Ohio Walleyes. One was 28" 7.5lbs and the other was 28.5" 7 lbs. Caught plenty of perch as well before having to cut the day short due to bad weather. Have a planned fishing trip next week in Chesapeake Bay.

A few people of my family and I are going to go out to Colorado this winter or next and Elk hunt. Ride into the mountains on horses and stay in a tent for 4 days. They have done it before, but I havent been able to go due to school. Grandpa shot a 5 x 5 and a mule deer (forget stats) the last time he was out there.

I dont like to bow hunt (too impatient), but I also want to go bear bowhunting sometime just to say I did it.

I also know a guy who went on an African safari hunting trip a few years ago for about a month. He killed various types of game. It was pretty fucking cool. I'll see if I can find some pics.

Love to fish and hunt. I used to hunt all the time but for about 12yrs I worked two jobs and that did not leave much time for either. So now I am down to one job and loving all the free time. I really started fishing a lot this year. I am out about three times a week. I have quite a bit of bluegill and crappie in the freezer. Going to have a fish fry at the end of summer. Its been a good year.

Have gone down the River Dumoine in Canada. Chartered a pontoon plane which lands on Lake Dumoine. 100k long trip, about 20 stages of white water done in a canoe. I was soaking wet all week....
Saw a bear and many bald eagles plus the Northern lights.

Amazing time.

(not me. I didn't wear a helmet)

Don't hunt but enjoy fishing.

I've always been into fishing. We spent a lot of time on Lake Erie growing up and did a lot of fishing off of piers and docks. Just this past year a buddy got me into shooting clays and hunting, especially bow hunting. Once I started I was hooked. Really enjoy being out in the tree stand and being able to shoot and kill my meals for the whole winter.
