Hey! Come join the fun. Hang around with gun carrying 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] Amendment Rights American Citizens in a march to education the public about the Ohio gun laws and to promote CCW. Come see the good citizen that legally carry weapons, protect their rights and honor the Constitution could be a surprise to see who packing. :)

Sorry but Belly35 will not be attending this even but will be at the Canton event in August.

I'll get the popcorn and wait for the Open Carry March to collide with a TM rally.

...too soon?

Somehow, I think parading guns around to "celebrate" open carry turns guns into more than what they are.

They are tools/toys. They have a function. While they're fun to many, I don't see the point of an event.

Otherwise, fuck it, I'm starting an open-carrying wrench parade. Bring your wrenches of all sizes, shapes, and denominations (Standard or metric!). Plumber's wrenches, socket wrenches, allen wrenches ... bring them all!

Seems silly, right?

PS - For what it's worth, I love to go shooting. I own a gun. I've open carried before. I just don't get the reason to cream all over carrying. In a way, it seems self-defeating. Celebrating the fact that carrying a gun should be treated like it's no big deal ... and celebrating by making a big deal out of it.

To be fair, no one is trying to take away your right to own a wrench.

It's true.

However, I doubt you'll lessen the movement of people trying to ban guns by drawing attention to them as something more than what they are.

Maybe a better analogy would have been trans fats. I bet a trans fat fest would have DELICIOUS food.

Great question: There is no "Open Carry Law" in Ohio... the Ohio Revised Code does not authorize, prohibit, or otherwise regulate the open carry of firearms on foot. Open Carry of a handgun or long gun is protected across Ohio by virtue of ORC 9.68 which preempts any municipal laws prohibiting the act. There is no requirement of residency or license to carry openly in Ohio - however, you must be legally in possession of the firearm that you intend to carry. It is recommended that you be at least 18 to carry a long gun, and 21 for handguns.

Concealed Carry: requires a permit
