Everything you've said here is the same with dyscalculia. I've heard nobody say otherwise regarding dyslexia or dyscalculia. People know that individuals with such issues can be all these things.
Come on, now, Belly. Think of it like the song "Boy Named Sue." Sometimes, sucking it up through the tough times is what makes a person stronger. I had to spend extra time on my math homework when I was young, but I got to the point that I knew how to efficiently check my work, which made me start to get better and better at math. Eventually, I was damn good at it. By the time I took the ACT, it was my best subject.
It's okay if people don't get it. And it's certainly okay if well-intentioned acquaintances take good-natured jabs at it. Learn to jab back and laugh it all off. It's okay for us to laugh at our imperfections. Fuck, we all have plenty of them.
It's one thing for people to be genuinely mean, but most of the time, people are well-intentioned and good-natured. Let's make use of that thick skin we're capable of having and instead of getting offended, take a pot shot right back.
