Believe me, I'm not trying to discourage you from it. It's a great program that can get you ripped. I've just changed my focus on what I'm looking for in a workout.

Five rounds is a shit ton.

I did p90x for a time, but Tony Horton's face just enraged me too much. I had to quit.
I put it on mute and crank the music.

So he owes it all to rastling, huh? Have you seen Kevin Smith's house? The only thing he's lifted is a bong. Your argument is weak.

Don't be mad that your dad didn't properly weight train you when you were 7.

No, this is helpful. I'll mix it up when I'm done with this round of P90, but I don't know if I have the time to commit to P90X.

This is a thread I'll participate in, but half the posts thus far are mentioning P90X. WTF?

Squat. Dead Lift. Press. Use dumbbells for a variety of stuff. Do some high intense and/or high resistance cardio. Walk around. Do some stretching. Minimize sitting.

There's your program :)

Said wanted to derail last thread by talking about HS boys, so I decided to start a new one. Anyway, BR what are farmer's walks? Also, I mix it up in terms of working out, how do you feel about running steps? I figured it would be much better in terms of burning fat and not losing muscle (over long distance runs).

Also, this thread can cover nutrition as well. Exercise and Nutrition go hand and hand.

My athletes (sorry, but seems relevant) tend to get knee issues when we do stair workouts. I never had any trouble with stairs back when we used to do them....but I've just about stopped my teams from doing them due to knee complaints/problems.

I used to as well, but (not sure if this is the same issue), I found I just needed to stretch out my IT band. There are a lot of stretches that can solve that issue, and also using a firm foam roller helps tremendously as well. When I coached wrestling and led workouts, I def had my wrestlers run steps. It's a good workout that increases explosion.

Pitchers and catchers practice we had to go up and down the same 17 steps for 30 minutes.....it never once gave me knee troubles but it really seemed like more of a cardio workout.....it had to help explosion but can't say I ever noticed a difference. Seemed more like he was just trying to shed some fat off the lazy catchers/pitchers who weren't overly active.

Yeah....the roller seems like it was made for that IT problem.

Based on your description it just sounds like you guys ran up the steps for 30 minutes, maybe at around 85%. 30 minutes of the same exercise and steps seems excessive. I am talking pure explosive sprints up steps. I don't just do sprints either. I do side shuffle steps, ski jumps, one legged hops, two legged hops (1 or every 2 steps), double tap on each step, etc.

Yeah....extremely old school with zero creativity and an unsure target IMO

What are ski jumps?

This is the only video i could find lol, but it pretty much shows the mechanics. I use the same mechanics hopping up steps.
