I know if I choose product "X", and then switch to product "Y", there is something lacking for me in "X" that "Y" fulfills. It's really that simple.Spread All Day;1457735 wrote:Clearly you have no idea what you're talking about nor do you know Ytown football, just shut up.

Poland would be a good public school option to go to as would Boardman and Fitch .Dont know much about Campbell memorial but they used to be big time . Alot of great schools in the Ytown area . Mooney just happens to be king of the hill in any division in that area and that says alot . I guess when you have the alumni they have it helps.
Warren Harding ,Howland Campbell,Poland,Boardman,Fitch,Mooney,Ursulin,Youngstown East, all could be attractive to kids that come from poor schools with poor programs.

Campbell east and boardman are some of the worst schools around. Just stop you're making yourself look worse than we already think you are.

This is shocking news, several people, led by our boy sherm, informed us that Mooney was above this and it's something they would never do.

I know one thing you pathetic wannabee .We fight ! You read.Spread All Day;1457715 wrote:Steubenville people are a rare breed of stupid and we'll leave it at that. The entire YTown area has kids recruited away from them, and in this case Mooney tried to take 2 of Struthers' best upcoming freshmen. Only 1 agreed, and he is a future D1 athlete barring any major injuries..(knock on wood) he's a good kid and we all wish him the best in his endevors. Mooney does this every year or tries to every year with Struthers athletes. Stewart recieved calls from them, didnt accept and ran from over 1500 yards this past season. You don't have to go to Mooney to be successful.
BTrev- From what ive heard, Struthers knew about this dinner because one of the kids told the coaches about it, but they weren't going to tell. Im thinking another school like maybe a poland or a canfield (maybe) told mooney they were gonna tell if mooney didnt fess up.. The guy from the diocese said it best on the news at 11 "We could of covered this up" - doesnt that right there say something to you? They've obviously covered stuff like this before. Damn shame really.
But hey, they're successful and represent Ytown very well every post season by beating the snot out of the river people in stuby, and i dont expect anymore to come of this, even though i believe they should have more severe consequences.

Actually, Boardman's ranked the 187th best high school by the Ohio Dept. of Ed. Struthers is ranked the 392nd. Just thought it was unfair to lump them in with Memorial and East.Spread All Day;1457959 wrote:Campbell east and boardman are some of the worst schools around. Didn't you read my post. I said it was unfair to lump Boardman in with Campbell and East! I really don't understand why you would get so mad at me for pointing out your mistake about Boardman schools. It wasn't a knock against Struthers. It was just a bit of information. As far as Campbell and East go I know they're below Struthers in the rankings. I graduated in 1990 from Campbell and have lived in Howland for the last ten years with my wife and children so it doesn't really bother me when you talk nonsense about Campbell. Besides your probably one of those guys that's scared to even drive through Campbell!

Mooney forced the coach that did this to resign. They self-reported this. They'll take the punishment.
Pretty crappy that they pulled this. But I'm glad that the coach that did it is gone. Don't need anyone like that associated with the program.

I feel sorry for the kid and his family. They honestly didn't think that if they paid for themselves and their son that this wasn't a violation. Hopefully he works hard this year and prepares himself for his sophomore year.

The assistant coach who did this will simply be a sacrificial lamb. They "self reported" before anyone else could report, it's that simple. And of course they'll take the punishment, what else can they do?

Yes...I'm sure a guy would gladly just quit and keep his mouth shut if he was being forced to be a "sacrificial lamb." They self-reported because they found out what happened and realized it was a violation. Mooney told the OHSAA, the diocese, and Struthers.skank;1458556 wrote:The assistant coach who did this will simply be a sacrificial lamb. You can try to make it out to be whatever you want. But the real story is that the coach didn't think it was a violation (his fault for being stupid) and he put the integrity of the program in question. He was forced to resign and I'm sure all the coaches are making sure they understand the rules on recruiting. I do feel bad for the kid. Because this coach screwed up, the kid has to suffer.
