My favorite jeans are made by Rag & Bone, so they are somewhat pricey. While designer jeans are often expensive, in the end you do get what you pay for and they fit me perfectly, so I have no problem shelling out a few extra bucks.

I do, however, also like Rock & Republic, which are fairly inexpensive these days as they are now sold as Kohl's. About $70 a pair.

On average, I'd say roughly 48 hours of wear, a solid 3-4 days before washing.

But the where/what I'm doing matters - if I'm walking all day (i.e. sweating), they get washed after that day....if a dog crawls all over me they probably get washed that day....back before bars were smokefree they had to be washed the next day.

I might even argue 3-4 days is ideal, because IMO 7 days is too long. So 3-4 days means two pairs of jeans for the week, and then you wash together.

I wear Levi Signature jeans for $18 from - YES - Wally World. Who cares? They're jeans. Anyone who pays more than $30 for jeans is nuts. :D

I'll wear them 3 or 4 times before dropping them into the clothes hamper.

Most was probably $40 or so when I under-packed on a trip.

Usual is $16 Wranglers at Target.

I have one pair of Barbour Jeans that are only worn at semi-formal events - they are probably US$160. The rest are all Lucky - I think there are 3 of them. So only 4 pairs of jeans in total.

I rarely wear the Barbour - never been washed. The other ones are washed after maybe 20 wears.

Mrs. FFT buys my non-dress clothes for me. I have no idea how much, but I'm guessing $30 or 40. I don't really have many opportunities to wear jeans.

This.

Most of mine are Lucky Brand, Buffalo David Bitton, or Kenneth Cole. Given my size, I usually can't find jeans that fit me well except at Men's Wearhouse, where they run about $80-120 apiece. However, they fit well and they last for awhile, so I don't mind the price.

Most was spent on a pair of Armani jeans. Won't do that again.

Heh. I wear suits to work 5 days a week, then business casual to church on Sunday. Because we have little kids, we're not really going out in the evenings, either. So there just aren't that many opportunities to wear decent casual stuff in general.

$200ish.

I want a pair of raw Nudies, but I'd have a hard time dropping that much.

There is a local company in Cincinnati that popped up last year that makes custom fitting raw denim jeans. I believe you actually go in and get measured by them or you can send in your own measurements. Seems like they'd be the best fitting jeans you'd ever wear but I can burn through a lot of cheap pairs for the same $250 I'd have to spend on them.

Yeah, $250 seems to be the going price for a legit pair of raw jeans.

Custom for $500 is insane! Slim straights are usually my go to.

I've had a pair of 7's and Diesel. I got both tailored for probably $30 each. Can't imagine a custom pair for $500 fitting all that much better. If you need that much help getting a decent fit, maybe you're better off putting the money toward a health club membership.

People get custom dress shirts/suits all the time for a lot of coin.... but $500 for jeans is a bit much.

Diesel is one of my favs. They have a lot of different cuts.....something for everyone.

And jeans have a lot more "value" than shirts. Probably wear them 5-10X as much, at least.

A custom suit is a different ball game. There's actually such a thing as too nice of suit in many business settings. IMO, unless you're a partner or MD at an IB or mgmt consulting firm (or a CEO), you have no business wearing a $2000 suit. And I don't know, french cuffs have come back in a big way, but used to be a faux paus to wear french cuffs if you weren't at least a certain level.

Agreed. And for virtually everyone, you're better off being in good shape and wearing a cheap but well-tailored suit than you are wearing a super expensive suit. Most people can't really tell a difference in fabric quality, etc to justify the extra expense.

True, although the people that buy such suits usually CAN tell the difference.

Anyway, the whole key is to hit the sales where you can get 30-40% off designer labels...then these items become "reasonably" affordable. It's tougher for shirts because they're usually picked over, but for suits and shoes, even jeans, it's the only way to go.
