Seriously though. I have a bunch of carts that I'd rather keep. I tried an emulator on my computer a long time ago and it was okay but didn't have the same feel.

They make USB adapters for popular game systems where you can plug in genuine controllers and map the buttons and they'll work.

I did this on my htpc connected to my TV, and it's wonderful.

If you have a microcenter close to you....they carry the old controllers with a USB end. Much better than using a keyboard

That's good to hear (assuming they're compatible with Mac), as I have a decent controller, but it just feels a bit off. I think it's because the control pad part is garbage, so you have to use the analog stick. And those old games were all made for a control pad. I mean, it's still a LOT better than trying to properly map a keyboard...especially for the laptop I have, but it could be a bit better.

I know the adapters I bought on amazon are compatible with Macs, I would imagine these are too since they're probably just generic HID devices (which goes back to Windows 98 days)
