I'm sure many of the ND fans on this site have already heard, but supposedly Gerrell Robinson is considering transferring to Notre Dame. He is a wide receiver who Notre Dame recruited heavily a few years ago and ended up at Arizona State. At a list 6'4 230 as a sophomore wr he would be a welcomed addition if he made the move. http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/robinson_gerell00.html

I for one would like to see some defensive players join the fold. 6'4 and 230 is a big boy though so I would be pumped to have him. Still though, the best teams have the best defensive lines, that is where the game is won. Look at Ohio State, Florida, Texas, Alabama, Southern Cal, they have the best defensive lines. Hell even Nebraska had a fine season simply because they won the line of scrimmage every game with Suh.

True, but I always like to have game-breaking receivers in the wings. Losing Golden this year and most likely Michael and Duval next year might hurt a lot if Walker, Goodman and Evans don't come around. After being spoiled 4 of the last 5 years with good receivers, I think it'd be painful to watch another lackluster wr corps like the one we had in 07

I'm being cautious when I say "considering" because the rumors are a little stronger-worded than the post I made but I don't really want all the assholes to jump on me if there's an agreement made and one party backs out... That being said there is no agreement, people just seemed to be convinced there is a better chance than not he'll be in a gold helmet soon

I wonder if they'd give him a shot at safety.

^^He was a safety in high school on defense, so why not? Lord knows Notre Dame needs the help.

Figure it didn't need a new thread and this could be seen as an addition to next years team...Manti Te'o has decided to delay his mission and return to Notre Dame for his sophomore year.
Glad to hear that about Te'o. The defense is already bad and they're losing McCarthy so Te'o sticking around is a big plus.

What were you and his boyfriend doing talking about this kind of stuff together?
Also, I wonder if athlete is getting this info. from the same sources that said Stoops was in contract negotiations with ND?

Stoops was. I was talking about the drama with some friends I have associated with Mooney and they confirmed that he was in talks with ND (or rather his people were so that he could claim that "he" never talked to them) and the offer was on the table for 35M give or take and the sticking points at the end of the day were the discipline areas and some academic exceptions as had been mentioned on another thread so athlete wasn't bullshitting anyone, the deal simply fell through at the 11th hour.

Would've end up costing ND nearly 80 million to switch from Weis to Stoops, and they were willing to do it after some thought. 10-18 million for Charlie's buyout (somewhere in that range depending on who you talk to), 35-40 for Stoops' contract, and 30 for the OU buyout. OU had lawsuits waiting based on something Stoops had violated in his contract regarding his relation with Notre Dame
