It was more a joke directed at them. I obviously don't think it will stop them, but I could care less. When I bring statistics into play, their arguments fall to pieces and they choose not to respond to most of my posts.

Statistics? What statistics? Ones that show Notre Dame has won 1 bowl game in almost 15 years? How many top 10 teams have they beaten? What about top 25? Face it, Notre Dame is no longer relevant in college football.

Notre Dame is no longer relevant in college football yet they have their own tv contract, have missed only one sellout since 1966 (a 1973 game was moved to Thanksgiving and was still less than 2,000 away from a sellout), has had a number one recruiting class in the last three years and the others have been elite, and had ESPN devote practically a whole two weeks to anything regarding the coaching search. No longer relevant for sure

And yet they STILL can't win a bowl game, STILL can't beat their rivals, STILL can't consistently put together 10 win seasons with a ridiculously weak schedule, and their fans STILL run their mouths to far superior team's fans.

Yes, we have done everything you have said within the last 5 years... The only rival we haven't beaten is USC, which the Big 10 hasn't done this decade either in their yearly "Big 10's Best vs. USC" game

The point? Notre Dame is far from irrelevant. But I wouldn't go so far as to say there are many other teams envious of their success during the 2000s.

Selling out football games doesn't make you relevant.

The Cleveland Browns and Oakland Raiders in the NFL have sold out games for years and years. What have they done in the last 20 years?

The Buckeyes (I love them to death) always sell out football games, year in and year out. But they aren't a team to really be feared anymore. Same goes with Michigan.

The Cleveland Indians sell out games like it's their job (well, it sort of is)... They haven't had any consistent relevance for about 10 years now.

That still puts Notre Dame in the mix with the top 25. I respect your point though. I believe the point others made about ND being irrelevant or the fact that they can't beat rivals or win a bowl game are all untrue, as well as the fact that the ND schedule is weak.

Pitt and Cincy have had more 10 and 9 win seasons as well. Don't forget about Troy I believe also.
