What year would you change it to? Essentially, which era would you choose to live in if you had the choice?

I would go with a birth date shortly after the end of the Civil War. Homesteading in the Old West during the late 1800s seems to be the most appealing to me. Being around during the American Revolution would have also been interesting.

Born late 40's. Be 18 in the mid-late 60's when muscle cars were readily available and still had style. Life seemed to be better then.

I would definitely not pick an earlier year. They all sound great but I'm blind as a bat and I had terrible teeth. Someone might have left me on the side of the road when I was a baby.

This would've been sweet, too.

I would love to experience that time period, but I don't know that I would have wanted to live my whole life that way. It was a tough life.

Being 18 during the mid-late 60's would be fun to try. Although the 20-30 age during the 90's was awfully fun too though.

Agreed. I might even go earlier; perhaps prior to our nation's founding. Whenever I watch Survivorman or Little House on the Prairie, something in me wants to grab a sleeping bag, my knife, perhaps a pan and some water and leave. And never come back. I dream of ending up somewhere in Montana or Nebraska, finding a section trees and having at it for the next 50 years. Or until I die of starvation. Whichever comes first. But the sense of adventure, freedom, and survival all strike a chord within me.

I kinda like going to a butcher and getting a steak instead of raising a cow and butchering it just to get a steak.

Watch "Into the Wild" if you haven't already. But I'm with you. If I was single I'd already be living out west in a cabin somewhere.

Back to when I would be an ideal age to fight in the Revolutionary or Cival Wars. I love history, and I am pretty much obsessed with those wars. After that, probably a year when I would be between 17-25 during the 50s. I also think being around in old time NYC and Chicago would be fun.

I grew up next to a farm and worked as a kid on it. I'll never do it again.

Like Justin I would like to be coming of age right after the Civil War. I'd love to be a cowhand in the old west doing drives from Texas to the railheads in Kansas

I wouldn't want to go as far back as some of you guys. Something about being born in a time when the average life expectancy was less than 50 doesn't sound appealing to me.

I'd stick to the 20th century...but wouldn't mind being old enough to appreciate the lifestyle of the 50s and 60s.

I'd want to be born so I was a teenager/early 20s back when the Browns were pwning the league and the steelers were the laughingstock of the league for 40 yrs.

I would also beat the living shit out of art model if I were given the opportunity.
