Watching the Big East 30 for 30 documentary actually makes me kinda sad. The decision to disband that great tradition is one of the great blunders in sports history. A decision almost entirely driven by football when none of those schools are even good at it. They must've been fucking high when this all went down.
I love that the ACC has become an even greater conference because of it, but I'd much prefer the original Big East to still be intact.

I'd love to watch the 30 for 30 segment. In the 80's the Big East was the premier conference, in the 90's it got a bit out of control and at times were painful to watch, and the downfall started in that decade. It was just a foul-fest with guys that had athletic talent but couldn't hit a damn shot, which is why the league got the reputation. St. John's is a good example of this, they were at one time one of the best college programs, and their rivalries with Syracuse, Georgetown and Seton Hall were fantastic. Around the early 90's that changed a bit. Really a shame because it was great basketball back in the day.

Just saw a stat that 76 players from Indiana are in the NCAAs this year (mightve been last year), which is a record for any state.
The impressive part, IF it is THIS year, is Butler, ND, Indiana and Purdue all missed the dance.

Speaking of Indiana hoops, is there any doubt that Butler would be in the Big Dance and many peoples' Sweet 16 pick if Brad Stevens were still at the helm?
And some people don't think coaching matters. It's not all about talent, and Butler does have talent. Kellen Dunham (an elite guard who could play anywhere) and Khyle Marshall formed a formidable duo.

If that is true, every coaching staff in the state probably should do something about their recruiting people. Andrew Dakich is only a walk-on. As long as a kid is an above average student with basketball ability -- Andrew was recruited by Butler, Wyoming and Florida Gulf Coast -- walking on at a Big Ten or ACC school doesn't take all-star level talent. But there's no doubt that Andrew's family hoops history didn't hurt his chances. Also, FWIW, he played AAU ball with Michigan commit Mark Donnell.
It's kind of bizarre seeing him on Michigan. As a yearly attendee of the Dan Dakich Basketball Camp at Bowling Green as a kid, I remember watching Andrew dribbling and shooting around in Anderson Arena as a five or six year old.

As I said, I haven't seen him play since he was in elementary school, so I'm simply basing my evaluation of his game on who recruited him.

@KYHoopsBuzz UNLV guard and leading scorer Bryce Dejean-Jones will transfer. UK reportedly among those who have inquired. Averaged 13.6 ppg this season.

Always used to watch their tournament on TV. They were light hears ahead of Ohio in televising their HS sports. Semi state, and then of course the finals. Always thought it was weird how they would play two games in one day back in the day

It's all speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised. Patterson is pretty maligned, and hasn't fit in anywhere yet. Jeremy Hollowell worked his way out of the doghouse towards the end of the year with Crean, but it was a long, long year for him. Especially given his preseason hype and HS hype, just hasn't even been close to the 35th ranked player that he came to IU as.

On teams with Armon Bassett (ex-Ind) and Walter Offutt (ex-OSU), Ohio was 3-2 in two NCAA tournament trips. As a program, Toledo has a total of 1 NCAA win, 0 this year with Weatherspoon (ex-OSU).vball10set;1592516 wrote:lol, right :rolleyes:
