6 ranked teams played last evening...5 of them lost.

I haven't been more pissed off at a UK loss since the 09-10 team played the worst game of their season against West Virginia in the regional final.

Just absolutely pathetic execution, terrible fundamentals and demeanor. Time is running out and I don't think certain things are fixable...

You have reason to be upset. THis team is really not getting any better. They show glimpses, but lack consistensy. They could have easily lost to LSU at home, now this loss. An away loss could be understandable, but not one a home at this point in the season. I have seen UK play only a handful of times this year. Obviously the talent is there. But they just don't seem to play with much chemistry. Still some time to get things turned around, but its late in the season and by now, frosh are not frosh and the improvement, if there, is usually evident. With Florida looming in an away game, as well as SEC...could easily have 9 losses headed into NCAA.

Harrison just isn't a great PG. Doesn't make people better. With Cal, a PG who does that, is the key to success.

Wild end to the Utah Valley-New Mexico State game last night. A NM player throws the ball like a baseball at a UV player as time winds down. Then as UV students rush the court to celebrate their win an all-out melee ensues between fans and players. A UV student appears to get in the face of the NM player who hurled the ball, at which point the NM player throws a punch in his direction. Another UV student then jumps in and starts unloading haymakers. This is why coaches are opposed to court storming and occasionally remove their players from the floor before a game concludes.

ESPN has barely even mentioned this today. Yet the Marcus Smart incident, which involved a solitary push, required 24-hour news coverage.

Here's the video. Looks like I had some of the players involved mixed up. It was another player for NM, not the guy who originally threw the ball, who was confronted by a Valley student. Anyway, that's just ridiculous. Some fans are so stupid. As we saw with the Texas Tech "Super Fan," out-of-control fans such as this are often seemingly given a free pass to do whatever they please while players are expected to just ignore it.

As reported in the ESPN article, a message to fans: Rush the court and you might get punched.

They beat Arizona State and USC by 20+, but other than that, really no large-margin victories. While I agree that Arizona is better with Ashley -- that's not even disputable -- the Wildcats don't appear too far off their earlier pace right now. Sean Miller has his team clicking really well and the Cats are playing lights out defense.

Florida and Arizona are still 1A and 1B, respectively, right now IMO.
We might not appear that far off pace, but that's because with or without Ashley, we've had the #1 defense (according to KenPom and a couple other efficiency sites).

With the defense continuing to be awesome, I still fear that our struggles to space the floor without Ashley may come back to bite us. Will my fear actually develop? It's hard to say, because Miller is a good coach and the I like the adjustments he's made since Ashley's injury to help with the spacing issue.

Uh, isn't that the key to many teams success...a PG who makes people better around them?

The Harrisons are lucky as shit for the twin factor. They were both highly overrated.

Way to simplify my post.

When Cal has had a great PG, his teams are very good. When he has bad to average PG play, his teams struggle. It's just very apparent as the wings don't handle the ball as much in his offense as in others.

Cincy and UConn in a good one right now. Huskies up one at the break. With Wisconsin, Duke, Louisville, Kansas and Creighton all zeroing in on the two-seed line, this is a must win for the Bearcats if they want to remain in that conversation.

Lunardi has cinci as a 4 seed. That seemed really high to me.

I wish Cronin would STFU.

How so? Cincy has a good resume of wins, high RPI and is currently a top 11 team. If the Bearcats end up winning the AAC, they are easily a 3 seed.

It's amazing that Cincy is as competitive as it is with only one real offensive threat. That defense is sick. I'll give Cronin credit for that. He can coach that side of the ball as well as anyone.

I probably worded that wrong. High as in I see them (at least before this shithole of a game) as a 2-3 seed.

Got ya. After a second read, I kind of thought that's what you meant.

After today, Cincy is out of the two seed running, unless they finish unblemished and win the conference tournament or something. My guess is they'll still finish strong as a 3 or 4, though, as long as they beat Memphis at home and take care of Rutgers.

They lose their last two regular-season games and they are not in IMO. Oklahoma State will need to split its last two against K-State and Iowa State to be in good position for an invite. A team should not be rewarded for finishing four games below .500 in their conference. I just don't see how a team can lose seven games in a row in February while finishing 7-11 in conference play and still go to the NCAAs.

With another win, though, then I could easily see them getting in.
