I guess my tricks are out of the bag. Ha.

However, I still believe that McGary will come out huge for Michigan in the front court tonight. He's obviously struggled this year coming off his back issues, but considering his history with Duke going back to his recruitment (when he basically publicly called out Duke for "not being able to develop bigs" which he said factored into his decision to sign with Michigan), I fully expect this guy to come out and play the game of his life in Cameron Indoor. He's going to be fired up to prove that he made the right decision by going to Michigan. It's just a feeling I have. And, as Vermont proved last week, any time anyone plays Duke, they see it as their opportunity for the sun to shine on their program. They always bring their best.

True. But I think McGary's recruitment with Duke was a little different, in the fact that on the day he signed with Michigan he said something along the lines of "I didn't want to go to Duke and just set screens for three-point shooters." A bush league move. There was definitely some hostility there, for whatever reason, and because of that I think he will see this game as very important to prove himself.

I hope he doesn't do shit, though, that'd be great.

IMO, McGary is good, can be very good at times. but a little overhyped I think. Pre season all american? A stretch IMO. He struggles against taller athletic players.

And that's not to mention the two pink elephants that are no longer in the room -- that being Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. who are now in the NBA and no longer garnering the same type of attention from opposing defenses that took the pressure of off McGary last year.

But I still say he plays out of his mind tonight based on whatever ridiculous grudge he appears to be holding for Duke. There are two sides to a coin, however, so I am sure the Duke staff will be motivated to neutralize McGary as best as possible. Just not sure Duke has the tools to do so in the paint if McGary gets going.

2014 Battle for Atlantis.

Florida
North Carolina
UCLA
Georgetown
Wisconsin
Butler
Oklahoma
UAB

This has basically become the premier tournament in the country and this might be the best field ever.

Holy shit.

Also, I would bet a substantial amount of money that Carolina will be playing UAB.

Damn. With that many recent basketball powers I'd agree that it's probably the best collection of teams in early-season tournament history and then you also have Oklahoma, UAB and North Carolina.

The 2015 Maui field is also headlined by some historical heavyweights: Kansas, UCLA, Indiana, UNLV and St. John's, with Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and Chaminade.

Pumped up for Indiana on the road in the Carrier Dome. Laley, have the Hoosiers ever played there before?

Looks like betting against Indiana was a bad idea on this night. Yogi Ferrell was lights out at the top of the zone in the first half. Hard to guard a guy from 30 feet in a zone. He's a heck of a player and has become a great shooter. I'd probably rank him as the best point guard in America not named Marcus Smart or Shabazz Napier. In that second group with Jahii Carson.

Syracuse on a big run here. Not looking forward to Duke playing at the Carrier Dome at all. That will be brutal.

After thinking a little bit more about my point guard rankings from above, for my top ten I'd go:

1. Shabazz Napier
2. Marcus Smart
3. Kyle Anderson
4. Jahii Carson
5. Marcus Paige
6. Yogi Ferrell
7. T.J. McConnell
8. Joe Jackson
9. Aaron Craft
10. Tim Frazier

There are some great point guards in college basketball this year.

Also, I'd take Keith Appling and Kendall Williams over Aaron Craft any day.

Good call. That's why I went back and tried to make a more thorough list. I knew I was forgetting some guys. I'd bump Craft out and add Williams and possibly remove Tim Frazier (simply because his team's lack of success...Frazier is so good, though) for Kendall Williams.

Just further evidence of how good the point guard talent pool is this season.

Yeah, and Craft is never going to even post top 25 stats. However, his value definitely rises above that with other intangibles. Things that I'm not positive Joe Jackson or Keith Appling have.

Good call on IU, dominant second half out of the Orange, OSU might abuse the Hoosiers this season

Craft isn't top ten. He's not even the best PG at Ohio State.

I'd replace Jackson and McConnell with Hanlan and Elfrid Payton.

Michigan looks terrible.

Indiana is too good defensively to get blown out versus anyone in the B1G at home this year...but thats just one mans opinion.

Crean simply has no clue how to beat a zone. Then, on top of it, he clearly stresses the "Gameplan" too much. His players then focus WAY to much on it and they dont just "play basketball"

I said it then and Ill say it again, McGary and GR3 are absolutely retarded for coming back to school. What were they possibly thinking?

And dont give me that they love college. Ill believe that when they play all 4 years (though, at this point, 3 is inevitable lol)

I honestly thought GRIII needed to come back to work on his game. But shit, I think he is driving his draft stock the wrong way fast.
