Back to the 1st amendment, it is censored and regulated. Bomb scenario I mentioned early, can sue for slander/libel, can't incite violence etc... Its a complete stretch to try and compare the two.

I am opposed to background checks because the current background checks are poorly implemented and expanded checks would not have prevented any of the recent tragedies. Politicians are trying to do something for the sake of doing something. I know they say they don't want a list of gun owners, but I don't want to even give them the chance. Even IF the current administration doesn't there's no way you can guarantee future administrations won't and it would not be hard to compile a list from the data they are going to be receiving.

Not a bad argument at all. But being against new legislation because past legislation was ineffective doesn't make sense to me. We wouldn't need new legislation if the old actually worked. Re: the list, the bill that was voted down had a specific clause banning the creation of such list.

I would also like to add Senator Toomey (Republican) said that most Republicans voted against the gun measure only because they didnt' want to be seen working with Obama. Talk about a fucking joke.

I agree, but it's not ineffective because of private sales. It's ineffective because the databases aren't up to date. Expanding the checks does nothing without good data. (Except make the list they are never going to create more complete.)
