Whats everyones thoughts on Robert Johnson this Friday?

Im HOPING its an exact opposite of Theo Pinson. Where it seems everything is towards UNC the week leading up to it, with IU a close second and then he flips. In Pinsons case, it was IU leading and UNC taking it in the end.

But, Id say like:
UNC - 40%
IU - 35%
Virginia - 24%
FSU - 1%

I don't know about this one. It seems like Carolina is in good shape, but I have a feeling he ends up at IU.

What if Whitehead ends up at IU? He's deciding Thursday now, I think.

I think Carolina only has room for one more in the 2014 class, but I suppose they might be able to take Johnson AND Vaughn if RV really wanted to come to Chapel Hill. McAdoo and Hairston will be gone this year, and they could send Stilman White to walk-on status when he returns from his mission if they really were desperate to make room.

Roy just had an in-home with Vaughn and his OV is September 27th. Not sure if that means anything with regard to Johnson.

Literally just got on here to post about Whitehead.

I REALLY think this bodes well for IU. Crean hasnt had an in-home visit (reportedly was going to at the same time as Goodluck) and Whitehead was rumored (confirmed by coach and AAU coach, but denied it was official by Whitehead himself lol) to be coming for Hoosier Hysteria.

His finalists are IU, Minny, St. John's, Seton Hall and Pitt.

I really like IUs chances, more because of the timing, than anything else. I feel he must be sure and since he was very high on IU and did the whole unofficial to the school already I think it is them. Otherwise, why not let Crean have his in home and take your official for Hoosier Hysteria?

But, its recruiting, so who knows. I know IU wants a class of 4 (but 1/2/3 is not bad). They want 1/2 wings, 1/2 guards and a big. Top targets have been Whitehead, Johnson, Goodluck and Devin Robinson.

Although, the SJU visit on Wednesday is REALLY puzzling. They could steal him right out from under everyones nose.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think this is bad for IU.

Starting to think if the visit to IU made him realize he needs to be in the city and not a small town. I wouldnt blame a kid from Coney Island for thinking that.

Oh well, really hoping for a class of Goodluck, JBJ, Robert Johnson and then put it all on Devin Robinson as a sugar on top kind of kid.

ARGH!!!

Sounding more and more like Florida State (???) for Robert Johnson with UNC and UVA also possibilities. Indiana seems to have fallen off for some reason.

Also, Whiteheads coach is going to be an assistant at Seton Hall...so no surprise he ended up there lol. NYC recruitments are so damn shady.

I was pretty sure it was IU, but was hoping that maybe Carolina could get him.

Great get for Crean. Johnson was awesome this summer.

Trey Lyles announced his final two schools, Kentucky and Louisville. It's likely he plays with James Blackmon, so I'd expect him to narrow it down to a final list soon.

This is what you call a "raw big man."

Just turned 14. Already 6'10 and from what I can see, pretty decent quickness and footwork. Crazy.

Glad you brought this back up.

Goodluck Okonoboh (4*, 32 overall, Rivals) has cancelled his Florida Official and will announce between Indiana, Ohio St. and UNLV tomorrow night at around 9pm (halftime of schools football game).

What are the Buckeye fans thoughts on this recruitment?

Gut says IU, since they have led the longest, but UNLV is a darkhorse imo. Also have learned not to count out Matta.

Well, as it was with Robert Johnson, IU sources saying that UNLV and Ohio State are getting all the chatter. Hoping it ends up the same as well.

Dave Rice must be a mind-boggling car salesman, because he's done nothing on the basketball court to prove he's worth an elite recruit passing on the giants of the game to go play for. With the fanatic support Vegas has for its one and only basketball team and the glitz and glamour of the city that surrounds it, the Rebels are just a good coach away from bringing back the glory days. They need to remove him from his position immediately.

UNLV will be inexperienced in the backcourt, but their front line will be top 5 in the nation this year.

As Rec said though, they have underachieved the last 2 years.

Not entirely surprising news, but top 2014 big man Jahlil Okafor has narrowed his list down to Baylor, Kansas, Kentucky and Duke. Michigan State and Arizona are notables missing from Okafor's last revealed list during the summer.

If Okafor ends up choosing Baylor, then I think Scott Drew should finally be recognized for running one of the most successful Ponzi schemes in American history. The guy's done nothing. Nothing. Yet, he keeps attracting and luring in the elite of the elite.

Weird, because Okafor apparently loves UK and Calipari, but also loves the idea of still playing with Tyus Jones. Tyus Jones pretty much eliminated UK early, and officially did so just a few months ago, before Emmanuel Mudiay picked SMU. Read that how you want, but if they are playing together, why keep UK in the mix? Baylor, Kansas and Duke are all in play for Jones.

For kicks, I don't see them going to Baylor. I just don't. I don't think Scott Drew is any good either, but stew on this. In the last 4 years, he has 6 times more NCAA Tournament wins than Josh Pastner? So, why again do people go to Memphis?

Unless Jones and Okafor pick Duke, the top spot in the 2014 rankings, for the first time in a few years, will actually have some subjectivity in it and 3-5 teams will have an argument for the top spot.

Yeah, Pastner is another great one to add to the list of excellent recruiters but mediocre coaches. It's really puzzling why kids seem to be so drawn to guys like Drew, Rice and Pastner. To some extent, Tim Floyd was another example of this. Definitely makes you think that there might be more to the story. Or maybe not. But one thing is certain, it is not on-the-court success that makes those guys attractive.

As for the Okafor-Jones package deal, the duo has steadfastly maintained that they still plan to play to together, but my personal opinion is it's more likely they won't then will. My gut says Jones goes to Duke and Okafor, who seems to be as high on UK as Jones does on Duke, becomes a Wildcat. Hope I'm wrong though and both pick Duke. :)

Something happened with Jones/UK too. Not sure what. No info either, but they ended up settling on Tyler Ullis after Mudiay picked SMU. I mean, given that the UK PG spot is maybe the most glamorous position in CBB right now it's weird he never really considered the Cats.

If Duke misses on Okafor, though, it will be a tough one to swallow. Not because I think Duke is the runaway favorite -- actually, I think UK is the leader in this -- but simply because it will be another elite center in a long line of them that the Blue Devils have missed on. Greg Monroe and Patrick Patterson being the most noteworthy big men that Duke seemed to have in the bag only to end up having to settle on plucking somebody else from the Plumlee family tree. Ugh.

A recent tweet from Okafor: "I'm going to school with Tyus. It's as simple as that."

I believe that tweet is from today or yesterday. If true, then I have to imagine that bodes well primarily for Duke and Kansas in the Jones-Okafor sweepstakes, as Jones has all but eliminated UK from his list of schools.

From the sound of the tweet, I get the feeling that Jones might be the shot caller in this process, if the pair does in fact end up playing together. It's kind of felt that way all along, too. But maybe that's just me.
