Kentucky 1 seed, has to play on road (at Robert Morris) because Rupp is unavailable (NCAA site) lol

Welp, they won't last long.

They have another gym on campus. Kind of surprised they didn't play it there. Carolina had to do this a few years back when the Dean Dome was getting a face lift, they played at Carmichael and it was a great atmosphere.

UK played an NIT game in the other gym during the Gillespie years once because the Kentucky HS finals were in Rupp. It must have been booked too.

Nope. Apparently, UK did not want to find the staff to host the game at Memorial. It would require hiring additional staffing and all the fixings to host NIT games at Memorial.

Basically, what it means is...the school doesn't give a shit about the NIT Tournament.

Kind of shocked Wright State didn't get an NIT bid, but it doesn't matter anyway. It's more or less exhibition games at this point.

It is better off at Robert MOrris. They will be excited to host the game, whereas at UK.....who would want to go?

Did Dayton not receive an invitation to any of these, or did they decline?

I would imagine they declined. They would've had to go on the road, and most schools pay money to participate in these tournaments.

I think Robert Morris beats UK. UK is terrible this year.

pretty much

Dude was handed an intact Sweet 16 team and choked on every game that mattered. Maybe he'll coach the lady Buckeyes. Match made in heaven.

If this is the case, jump on RMU. They are getting 5 points.

I either see UK not caring a bit and getting beat, or taking this as a challenge and wiping the floor with the tournament.

We'll know very early on. From what it sounds like right now, people expect Goodwin and Poythress to return to UK, with Noel and Cauley-Stein likely gone to the draft. There are rumblings of both Ryan Harrow and Kyle Wiltjer transferring. Both Julius Randle and Andrew Wiggins deciding on schools soon as well.

CBI and CIT charge the home teams a fee (CBI is 60K) so you generally have everyone wanting to be the away team

I will take Wiltjer. He's as one-dimensional as a card-board cutout, but I love his height and ability to nail the three. He'll be of little value to UK if the Wildcats are going to be as good as the Harlem Globetrotters next year. I bet some of the current Cats have to be scared about what might happen to their PT.

That's weird. I guess the home team gets the "perk" of exposure and gate sales, though.

Wiltjer is from Portland. I like the kid, but rumors have swirled that Cal was very disappointed in his off-season effort (it shows in his physique). His father stated before Kyle came to UK, that he would be behind some great talents for 2 years, but wanted his son to eventually become a star. He won't be a star at UK next year...he might not even play much.

Some have speculated he may transfer, likely destination being Gonzaga. Remember the name, Micah Downs. I see a similar situation...we'll see.

But then they sell 1000 tickets if they're lucky because the NIT is the only lower tier one anyone cares about, and lose their asses

The last play summed up Alex Poythress' career at UK.

He was out for 10 minutes. He comes in to guard the inbound play, doesn't contest the pass, lets a rebound go right through his arms AND commits a foul. All in 6 seconds. The foul shots lost the game.
