This topic has been getting a lot of play of late, so the question is simple: In your opinion, is it okay or not okay for students to "storm the court" after what they perceive to be a big win? Feel free to qualify your vote if you feel the need.

Ok. Just retarded when the win is meaningless.

In my eyes it's reserved for the huge upsets of the very top ranked teams. But IMO they are too loose with it anymore. But the kids in college now have been entitled their whole lives from getting a 5th place trophy in their 8 team 5U Soccer league, their cell phones in 6th grade, new cars at age 16 (gotta have something safe)......

I'm all 4 college kids enjoying the times and having a blast...but it's a little over the top for me.

It wasn't even an upset. Virginia was favored by two points by Vegas.

Coach K is concerned about the safety of his players. That's it. Any coach would be if they were stormed as much as Duke is. Every time Duke loses on the road, even when the Blue Devils are the underdog, the opposing team's fans storm the floor. Duke is unlike any other team in America in that respect. And the laws of probability would say the more times it happens, the more a chance there is for one of those rare cases of injury to occur. To say that Coach K is just "butthurt" is fucking stupid.

You coach at a huge program, if you get beat and you're top 5/10 chances are you're going to get stormed against a team that isnt ranked and not a traditional basketball power. He just came off as a whiny b****with his rant about storming the court. The security at Virginia had a barrier of security guards that allowed them to shake hands and get off the court, its not like they were over ran and swarmed.

Sounds like K is the problem here
The 66-year-old Krzyzewski stopped and hollered an F-bomb at a fan before security could drag him away. Right behind the Hall of Fame coach were his players, some cursing at fans, some ignoring it and ducking into the hallway. Assistant coach Jeff Capel went back and yelled a few curse words

Coach K was being a whiny-ass loser. You probability theory fails as the number of documented injuries in such actions is zero.

Not a small number.
Not a number extremely close to zero.
Exactly. Zero.

I hope every team storms the court when they win against Duke; I don't care if Duke isn't even a top 200 team. Coach K is a POS.

I'm not a fan of it, but I can understand it would be different if my school wasn't a good team. I've rushed the field for football games and had a blast, so I guess I'm a big hypocrite. Coach K can GFH, though.

The best way to protect your players? Don't choke against unranked teams on the road. Coach K is a whiner.

Saw an article that said of Duke's 31 road losses in the last 10 years the fans stormed the court in 25 of them. Ohio State didn't last year though.

I can only remember OSU storming when we win a B1G championship or that year we beat #1 Illinois in the last game of the season

1. Virginia was a slight favorite
2. Fans of programs who have no self-pride or respect for their own program storm the court
3. Certain teams have the court stormed against them as it's more of an awe/respect of that being the opponent, not the win itselt

I don't like Duke but there is no doubt, the name "Duke" is why the court was stormed.

You are dead wrong. There are documented cases of injuries as a result of court storming.

Documented case #1: http://articles.latimes.com/2008/jun...rts/sp-crowe17

Documented case #2: A player from BGSU in the early 2000s was injured after being blind-sided by a group of students storming the floor and missed the majority of the season. Source: Former BGSU coach Dan Dakich who has talked about it all week. I also live near Bowling Green and remember the incident well.

You definitive statements are moronic.

And that would push forward a rule to not allow rushing the court to happen.

Why all the hatred for Duke? A clean program with the winningest coach all time??? Get a life there are bigger things to get pissed at then a team and a program that others wish they were more like!
