Unlike her male counterparts in the B1G, this woman is not going to bend over and squeal like a piggie just because it's an NCAA ""investigation".

"Sadly the NCAA has not lived up to their own core principles," Shalala wrote. "The lengthy and already flawed investigation has demonstrated a disappointing pattern of unprofessional and unethical behavior. By the NCAA leadership's own admission, the University of Miami has suffered from inappropriate practices by NCAA staff."

You can bet that this wasn't the first time...just the first time they got caught.

Emmert is a disgrace to the NCAA, which is bad because the NCAA is already pretty bad. Dude needs to step down, yesterday.

Why do people act like there always has to be a good guy and a bad guy? Just because the NCAA is a hot mess, it doesn't mean that Miami is an innocent victim. They are as dirty as the day is long, and have been for decades.

Just meant by getting fired. By saying she took the fall, I was insinuating there were multiple others doing wrong. Including those at Miami.

By saying she took the fall you're also implying that she wasn't a guilty party, especially when you add "it's unfortunate". There are multiple inferences to be taken from "she took the fall." Just sayin

Miami runs one of the dirtiest programs in America, it's hard for me to feel too sorry for them even though the NCAA completely botched the investigation.

So since the NCAA found out about all of Miamis illegal operations from a booster in a inappropriate way it makes it ok for Miami to cry foul and take almost no responsability for their actions........

Hardly...Miami deserves to be punished for its violations...and I think Shalala even states that in her response. What she refuses to take responsibility for is what she considers to be lies, half truths or fabrications. Unfortunately, the NCAA has been behaving 'inappropriately' for a long time. Finally someone has called them on it...finally someone is complaining of it's roughshod and arbitrary tactics and rulings. The Ncaa screwed Ohio State and it's players and it's leaders took it full up the ***. It went way over the top with Penn State.
Now, I am not saying that any of these institutions deserved to skate, just that the NCAA is an arbitrary organization that operates as judge, jury, and executioner, and rules from a pendulous rule book with little or no consistency. Its methods are questionable and in Miami's case particularly,.... unscrupulous. It has long since stopped being what it was supposed to be.

Thursday, a member of the Florida Senate wrote the state's Attorney General, asking that the NCAA be investigated for what he called "lack of institutional control" on the association's part. Sen. Joseph Abruzzo wrote Attorney General Pam Bondi, saying that NCAA investigators "engaged in corrupt behavior in an attempt to manufacture misdeeds against the University of Miami" and in doing so, may have actually violated Florida law.
"I am requesting that the NCAA's admitted wrongdoing be investigated immediately before the NCAA's witch hunt against the University of Miami causes further damage," Abruzzo wrote.

Using Penn State as an example of the NCAA's incompetence and/or corruption is like a lawyer making a groundbreaking point of law to acquit Manson. It doesn't make Manson the good guy.

I think it was massively excessive. 2 year bowl ban + the loss of scholarships was enough. The $60 million was over the top and ridiculous.

Nobody said PSU didn't deserve punishment. The issue here is the NCAA.

I'm with Hits on this one. Good for Shalala. Finally someone who's grown a full nut sack when dealing with the NCAA. Not just a woman Hits, but a born and raised Cleveland woman I might add. Probably has copped a tude due to suffering from clevelandsportsitis.

If "she's" from Cleveland good chance "she's" a dude anyway.
