The job is OK. The environment isn't. I'd rather do this in a public setting.gport_tennis;1391436 wrote:So basically you hate your job and hate people that try to find you another job?

Email Specialist with a medium-sized web-based marketing company. Been here 7 months. I like it.
Run a small affiliate marketing business that is just me. Been doing it for over 3 years. I like it more.

Marketing Production Coordinator, specialty food biz.
Great company, great coworkers, but I'm currently looking to get out. It's a small company, not much room for growth unless I stick around for a MUCH longer time. No thanks.
I'd like to make the jump to sales and/or account management.

It's a fancy way to say I do the email marketing for a couple of our larger clients. Job description would include things like content creation, layout, best practices QA, analytics, deliverability (inbox placement) monitoring, compliance, graphics, etc.dlazz;1391457 wrote:What does an email specialist do? In my spare time, I'm working on getting a best practices white paper published as well.

LOL No. Mostly, I send newsletters about conferences and/or new medical technology to doctors who have signed up for them. Other emails are health tips for former patients who have requested them. Nothing unsolicited, and most the time, it's not even selling anything. Just brand recognition.dlazz;1391464 wrote:so you're a spammer.

Although, if you've never read the CAN-SPAM Act, you'd be surprised at what the actual definition of spam is.

Controller/CFO for a company that owns and operates 16 restaurants in Cincinnati. I like it other than the stress, but figure that comes with any important job.

I enjoy it. It can get a little stressful at times, with the time constraints and impatient clients, but I like being able to create something and then watch how it does.WebFire;1391486 wrote:That sounds incredibly boring.

Honestly the best job in the world is a Notre Dame football beat writer. You can pretty much copy and paste the same pre-season, mid season, and post season updates every year.
Pre-season = "Oh we got a bunch of 5 star recruits that'll never pan out; ND, despite it's viciously tough schedule in week 2 against Michigan, should go undefeated and win a championship.
Mid-season = "Well we are barely just skating by after a close loss to USC. Hopefully we can get the coach a 10 year extension because losses are a benchmark for success in South Bend"
Post season = "Once again, ND gets blown out in a bowl game they didn't deserve, but the game was in doubt in the 3rd quarter so we have something to build on for next year. Next year is our year".

I'm guessing a minimum wage job would suck for you. What you want is to be able to leverage your experience into some part-time consulting gigs. You know, make like $50 an hour and work about 6 weeks a year.Belly35;1391395 wrote:I'm in the process of potentially closing both companies .... walking away
Take my Military Disability Retirement, apply for early SS, get a meaning less job for $15,000 year (not to go over the SS cap) get paid the reminder via gas, food cards and paid vacations arrangements additional value of $15000, use my other skill to created a cash only business ... make over $75,0000 per tax free....
I like your plan, I just wouldn't want to be a Walmart greeter 40 hours per week just to pull-in $15k a year. And finding part-time work would be tough, at least with my skillset. But I'd imagine a cost accountant or IT person could find someone looking for part-time support.

Soccer coach. Been doing it 5 years. I am on the job hunt again, I hope I don't have to find a different career. Although, if this VP job works out, I think I could do it for a long time and enjoy it.

Treasury Manager for a High Tech Company. I get 5 weeks of vacation, and the pay is good, but other than that I'm tired of my job.
I've been at the company for four years, and this is usually the point where I get bored and switch companies. This time I'm trying to find a way out of Corporate America, I don't think I'm cut out for it anymore, I've been doing it for 12 years and lose my patience with coworkers more and more each year....
