Plus, Fantasy Football (and sports betting in general) has taken over the desired age group of 18-49M. So, you get a ton of ratings for a game like last night for those reasons, not because the casual fan cares about the game itself.

I don't agree with that at all but that is your opinion.

One of the dumber posts on the OC in while.

That being said, outside of the Browns I rarely watch another NFL game. That was not the case even 2 yrs ago. More due to lack of free time than not wanting to though.
That's fine I figured I would be alone on this topic.

NBA is terrible, right up there with MLB. The only time either of those sports gets exciting/serious is when the playoffs hit. Otherwise, as Heretic mentioned, the top teams "coast." I'd rather watch golf than the NBA and that's saying something.

Like I said it's a great sport but it lacks drama and pace. Not sure how those things can be argued. Again, just my opinion.
Lacks drama? Did you watch the playoffs last year? Some of the late division races?

Football is probably the only sport where I consistently watch other games outside of my favorite teams. College hoops and the EPL is up there too, but football is my #1.

I can't get passed the fact he said football has no drama. Excuse me while I lmao. All credibility lost.

The only think I would semi agree with it it lacks pace. Because, in reality, the amount of time actually running plays versus the amount of time it takes to play a game is ridiculous. But, you have replays almost every play and it definitely isnt boring. And it certainly has more pace than baseball. Basketball is a fast paced game, until its close with 3 minutes to go. Then you can count on leaving and coming back in an hour for the final shot.

And regular season NBA pisses me off because of the way teams do their rotations. Its like a set rule you have to play your bench during this time in the 1st half and that time in the 2nd half...and it will always be versus the other teams bench lol

"Lacks pace." I can agree with that, but that's how the game is structured....lots of strategy involved.

Want more pace? Watch high level soccer.

Yet again you pick out words from posts and make them into something they are not. I said it LARGELY lacks drama, which is true. Most of the games are slow and boring outside of a few moments. I still like the sport but it is what it is.

A large majority of the game there is no action, there is probably 5 minutes worth in a 3 hour broadcast of actual action and gameplay. Other than that a lot of the time the game is really sloppy and hard to watch, just my opinion.

And I would say that, for the most part, 46 of a 48 minute NBA game is "sloppy and hard to watch" but then you have that last 2 minutes that the coaches have to call timeout 12 times which certainly "elevates" that level of excitement, just my opinion.

I'm not saying you're wrong because that is your opinion, like I said I still like football, it's a great sport. When it is awesome it is really awesome but those moments are very few and far between to me.

I'm spoiled because I watch a ton of MMA, and there is no sport that can even compare to that in terms of pure excitement, drama and action. I also find basketball to be more exciting purely based on the athleticism and the pace of the game, granted there are some down spots during the dog days in the middle of the season. Baseball is awful, how anyone can watch that is beyond me and I played when I was growing up.

Yes when it is good it is really good but those moments are few and far between imo. I wish there was a way to quicken the game but it is what it is.

You clearly don't have a firm understanding of football then.

Well I'm 28 and have been watching for a long time so I don't think that is the problem, more of just personal preference.

Yeah, now it just boils down to if you enjoy the entirety of the game or not. Some do, some don't I guess.

I had a similar fall off with baseball in my late teens, just lost interest.

Yeah I quit playing baseball because it was so slow and boring, I was really good too.

Agreed. Used to love MLB and liked to watch the NBA but can't stand pro basketball anymore. I can tolerate baseball but it's not the same as when I was in my 20's.

lol great point.

Also cricket is boring and hard to watch. Not sure how anyone can enjoy that sport since I don't, and I was a good cricket player too! Great sport though.

I've never watched MMA unless it's on at BW3's while I'm there so I don't know about that. Basketball may be faster paced, but I'd disagree about the excitement. The 82-game season waters it down. You lose 2-3 games in a row in the NFL and it's detrimental to the season, or ruins it all-together in college.
