170-Eisnicher Big Walnut over Jake Stratton Bradley
One other good match to note- conso finals at 160- CJ Harness Big Walnut over Jacob Pugh Bradley in 2OT. Pugh impressed me as a freshman. He will make a name for himself in the next few years at Bradley.

Very nice tournament - It ran well. They may not give out framed brackets to the champ, but they have a nice big gym with plenty of seating and 4 independent scoreboards up on the wall. You can see every mat and every scoreboard from the bleachers - I like that!
Wimer kid from Central Crossing was impressive!
Great to see Cruiser and Cruiser Jr in attendance!

Heavy finals might have been best match of the tourney -- licking valley's vanmeter vs. teays heavyweight Darnell
I think i remember this right. prouddad, help me out here! Vanmeter on top up by one 5-6 and kicks Darnell rather than risk reversal, 6-6 -- going for TD and win in regulation. Vanmeter gets TD, up by one again 6-8, then Darnell gets a foul point 7-8 and escapes with seconds left so tied again 8-8. goes to OT and Darnell gets two in a scramble 10-8.
congrats to Darnell for taking the title! good mat wrestler.
I will say this about Vanmeter...kid is FAST for a big HWT! looks every bit of 250 and spins around for two as quick as a 120 lb'er lol!

Bump- you nailed it.
Yes. Jaqui is one quick Hwt! Great kid too! He is going to do some damage over the next 4 yrs- being coached by a 2x Hwt State champ 1x Hwt Nat'l champ. The future is bright!

Darnell wrestled 195 last year if memory serves. Any idea where he weighed here? That is a big jump.bump_and_run;1380334 wrote:Heavy finals might have been best match of the tourney -- licking valley's vanmeter vs. teays heavyweight Darnell congrats to Darnell for taking the title! good mat wrestler.

he was weighing about 205 if I am correct. I think he is cutting to 195 for post season. One of those kids who is having a tough time finding his spot. Only a junior though and should be able to find a good spot next year to call home. lol.

the team battle should be a close one between Bradley and Licking Valley, although watkins could make some noise if their lightweights rack up a lot of pins. I think Bradley and Valley are just too balance, though. I'll take Valley in the team race.[/QUOTE]
Team scores
Bradley 225
Watkins 193.5
Licking valley 177

Close to the same finish as the Reynoldsburg JV tournament back in December, except there Eubanks got 2nd and Vanmeter got 3nd. Darnell wasn't there.lennyrox55;1380709 wrote:

Nice win for Darnell as he was giving up a ton of weight.

Central Crossing is going to be a contender again pretty soon. Caoch Ramirez has these guys going hard. I know there are a few super studs coming up through the youth ranks... I awas corrected Earlier, another lakso will be up in 2 years, but he is going to be a stud as well.
Good Job Ramirez!
