You have a short and convenient memory. The coaches in the league picked Wooster to be first or second in the league. Most unbiased people picked Orrville to be near the bottom. Maybe you don't know this , but we've been trying to get out of this league for 4 years. It doesn't have to do with losing now. It has to do with " the OCC schools were always bigger".

This is what I wrote on Aug 25th (page 38 for those keeping score). One of the seniors is my son. I've watched that group for a long time. Good work ethic, good friends, will be good citizens in the future. But they are 4-6 football team at best in this league. So based on my own words, I can't be anything but proud of them.

Otherwise, you're going to wind up with about 8 kids out for football next year. That poor freshman looked like he was knocked out cold on that play in the second quarter.

And, for God's sake, scrap the spread! That's not Orrville football. If Summers had been fed the ball more in the first half, the game might well have been closer. That offense looked unnatural. Wooster spent all season running the spread and being entirely ineffective. It wasn't until last week that they went under center and began feeding Tavy the ball. The kid had 500 yds rushing and 10 TDs in the past two weeks, but started the season playing jayvee football. You have to adjust to what works, not get obsessed with these systems. Haas figured it out in week 8. DaVault has yet to figure it out, apparently.

Agree with most of your post Jaco. Everyone knew this could happen. Davault would have figured it out right away and we would have been running Tavy in game one. That was the plan from last year- run Tavy and the massillon transfer. If Summers would of got the ball the game would have been closer because we would of ran more rather than giving them the ball on interceptions in our half of the field. We still wouldn't have won. Trevor gave it his all this season , but if we ran him only, who would have blocked and after we did that one game and everyone adjusted to stop him then what. We didn't have the horses and thats it.

It doesn't matter what league you play in when you don't have discipline and a coach that can't figure anything out. I was at the Northwestern/Norwayne game Friday and those kids never removed their helmets on the sidelines. I am sure they practice in full pads too. Orrville has become soft and very undisciplined and no matter what league you are in you can't win this way. We would have had the same record in the WCAL this year. Only one OCC team made the playoffs so it's not this big bad conference like people are writing. It's probably the worst the conference has been in its existence. You can move conferences but you are only moving your real issues to a different conference!

There won't be a program anyway if this continues. Kids transferring and less and less coming out for the team because they have no interest. It's a realistic possibility

Hey RRN...you gave me an idea. Why not get ahead of the curve and pick a new team to follow before the program dissolves? If it is likely to fade away anyway, and most certainly will not be worth spending your time (and money) on in the future, get out now. Pick a program that is the perfect program that does everything right, has a wealth of talent and wins every year. Given that so many of our games are an hour away, it really wouldn't be much of an inconvenience to choose a program anywhere from Cleveland to Mansfield. I suggest Massillon or Canton McKinnley since they are close.

Another possibility would be to just skip the regular season and wait until the championship game. Pick one of the 2 teams in the state final as your team. Go to the game and sit on the teams side. You give yourself at least a 50 percent chance of being happy every year. You could do that for every division! In one weekend you could see a seasons worth of football...GOOD FOOTBALL, and avoid the agony and uncertainty of sticking with a program just out of loyalty...which you have to admit is exactly the reason why this program is in such a state...loyalty.

I dont have a dog in the fight so it really doesn't matter to me what you want to keep putting up with down there. That one is on you! I am not blaming you or any other fan. I disagree that the blame goes to the coach for the state of things here. I clearly stated what I saw last summer and no coaching staff can change the death spiral that this program will remain in until we start having success again, which will only happen when we start competing with compatible programs. Our glory years in the AOL and AOC featured such powerhouses as Manchester, Fairless, Northwest, Coventry, West Holmes, Triway and Tuslaw. We would be 6-1 in that league this year and assuming we scheduled Wooster, John Marshall, and Norwayne we would have finished around 8-2 and be in the playoffs. Pretty compatible to a typical season back in the 80's. we simply are not comparing apples to apples by comparing results back then to our schedule today.

Whether I hoped for or picked Wooster to win, whether I posted it and deleted it, that had no bearing on the actual outcome of the game and you know it! You and your dizzy friends want to try to scapegoat me because the coaching staff couldn't devise an ample run defense that was hardly "within five yards of Dyson all night" (per the WQKT announcers).

On OC alone it is at least 6+ of you guys "hoping" for a win vs myself and RRN. Could it be that the two of us have more "hope" than you all or we just realize and know what we're talking about!

I've never said why Dyson left. I did say that Davault either didn't recognize or he ignored the talent potential of Dyson!

"Short memory"??? I never knew nor cared what the league coached picked. There's been talk about changing leagues lately, however, that wasn't the case when Orrvile was winning as the OCC schools were bigger than Orrville when they joined it, so now it sounds like a poor excuse.

Bingo! Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't Mansfield Sr and Wooster D1 when the league formed? And Madison D2? It was ok then and also for the last 105 years to play Woostwr but now it's not??? The reason we can't compete I because we get too caught up in all the silly excuses. And players and coaches worry too much about what people say on here. That's their parents damn fault!! Newsflash folks: you wouldn't have won the WCAL either. I saw a Northwesten team the other night that would have out hustled you, out tackled you, out disciplined you and most of all out coached you!!

How about giving some credit to Wooster? They played a great game and Dyson is the real deal. That is what we would have seen if he was at Orrville this year. It did not work out.

Talent makes great coaches great. This Orrville team never gave up and fought the whole season. Tip your hat and move on.

Be proud of your son as most intelligent fans are! Those boys did not have the talent that many other teams in the past have had, what they did have was the heart. I am not embarrassed by this group because they did not quit.

Other than Senior, they're the most talented team we played all year. How they only won 4 games is beyond me.

One thing to remember about Wooster's season. The first three teams (Medina Highland, Wadworth and Chagrin Falls) are 10-0, 9-1 and 8-2 respectively. Conference losses Sr, Ashland and Clear Fork. Probably should not have lost to clear fork but Sr. and Ashland are both excellent teams. Having said that I think this team sort of came together a bit more the last part of the season and the move away from the spread to good old fashioned football (double tights - I formation) helped as well.

First time to Orrville since the new field and school upgrades and I was very impressed. Nice faciltiies that most any school would be envious of.

Excellent points. We ran some I in the 4th quarter and that looked like old fashioned Orrville football. Would like to see us go to that formation more.
