Played Hidden Hills yesterday with a pretty solid hook. Still shot 40 on the front. That back 9 brings the lulz, you really shouldn't use a driver except on the 5's

Anyone ever play Cliffside in Gallipolis? Playing a scramble there this weekend. Doesn't really matter how I score, just wondering if it's a fun course.

I have played it about a dozen times but not since about 1993! I like it, though during golf season I had the biggest hook ever and had to aim about 50 yards into the cornfield to keep it in play lol.....our coach wasn't the best.

Course good....dare not drink their water.

I'll just be drinking their beer. Apparently they have a scramble called Hackfest where everyone plays 18 holes, then they just draw a team name as the winner...lol!

Played it many times (my hometown). Not the best course in the world, but you'll still have fun.

Gonna be in Nags Head over Memorial Day weekend again this year. Didn't get to play last year, but looking to do so this time around.

Any suggestions?

Course was pretty fun. Kinda dicey in spots because half the course is literally on the side of a cliff. Our team implented two new rules for next years Hackfest. There will be a beer can tee off hole, and a hole where all 4 players tee off simultaneously.

Question for the swing experts on here. I have made a stance adjustment this year(straightening my back) and have a much better feel and consistency to my swing this year, and am killing my irons, but my 3 wood and driver have developed a decent slice and have weak distance. I feel like my irons have good distance (PW-135, 9-145, 8-155, 7-165, 6-180) without trying to murder the ball (hit an 8-iron 170 when trying to murder it) and hit them dead straight but can't get my woods straight or have good distance. I've tried stance, where I'm teeing the ball, hips, hands, and can't seem to fix it. The only thing that makes sense now is that I have a regular shaft on both and maybe need a stiff shaft since my swing has improved and is faster. Does that seem possible? I'm completely lost as to why I can't hit a good tee shot anymore.

Edit: I'm not going to go out and buy a driver with a stiff flex as I can borrow one from a few of my friends and test it out, but can't play until probably Sunday and wanted to see if my thought process made sense.

its most likely grip related not stance related. Try rotating your right hand further over top of the left, instead of the V formed by the right thumb & forefinger pointing over your right shoulder it should now be pointed at almost your breast bone. You may lose some distance at first but when this grip becomes more comfortable and consistent you will be back to your regular distance.

You're welcome...that'll be $150. ...and you know you'd gladly pay that if it works.

You don't need a stiff shaft. You'll hit a regular farther than a stiff no matter what. It will just be inconsistent.
Your new stance is obviously changing your impact position and you're no longer hitting the driver at the same point. So your launch angle has changed and undoubtably your spin rate has changed. Until you get the correct tempo and impact position again, you're inevitably going to hit it worse.

Keep in mind an iron swing and driver swing are different, no matter what people try to tell you.

Thanks for the tips. Going to hit the driving range today and see if I can get it figured out. I already have my right hand pretty far over but will experiment and hopefully can find a solution. I did get my buddy's Taylormade burner driver with a stiff shaft to try so we'll see what happens.

if you already have a your right hand rolled left and you are still slicing, your swing is coming too far outside to inside. Try setting a tee lightly in the ground 12" directly behind a teed ball on the range. On your backswing knock this tee over with the butt of your driver on the take-away, now try to bring your downswing directly back over top the knocked down tee to produce a more inside to outside swing and this drill also helps you square the club face on impact.

I;ve found some people think they have a "slice" when what they really have is a "block". I take it you know for sure its a "slice"?

4 of us walked saturday and thr 4some in front of us in carts let us pass. Walking doesnt mean you play slow at all. People on carts go out of their way to do anything and everything. When you walk, you move to your shot, hit, and move on.

Yeah if youve got 4 hacks riding they can be slow or worse than walkers. But if you have 4 sub 15 golfers riding and 4 sub 15 golfers walking - the riders would finish two holes ahead of the walkers everytime. And that's another thing that I love about FL golf they are publically stating that if you do not have at least an 18 Hdcp you are encouraged not to tee off before Noon.
