As soon as people like that get pushed out, your town WILL be better for it. There is a difference between a good ole boys club where you get a ride home when you blow a .09, and full on corruption like this.killer_ewok;1352649 wrote:I'm from Steubenville, work there and have for some time. How about being part of the solution.

You obviously didn't read what I said. I have hired and fired people. In no case was football involved. I was a manager in the health care industry. I never fired a long-term employee for making one mistake, no matter how bad it was. I dealt out certain punishments, but I did not terminate the employee.Speedofsand;1352644 wrote:Hey Fairwoodking, explain how this rape has nothing to do with football.

Reno should be given the same courtesy. He has done a lot of good for this community. Just ask Matt Firm. What he has done for that boy may not assure him a job, but it does assure him a place in Heaven. And I can also speak from first-hand knowledge of the good he did to my late father.
Reno didn't rape anybody, and some of you are trying him in the court of opinion as if he did. He is guilty of handling a situation poorly.
Now having said all that, I have the suspicion that Reno has to go, not because of the girl but because of the football team. I can only suspect that parents will take their boys to other schools because of what Reno did or supposedly did. I am very loyal to Big Red, and not because of the football team. I received a very good education and was well-prepared for college. I will defend Big Red to my dying day. It's worth defending.

When it deals with the physical abuse of a minor, there is no such thing as a 2nd chance.killer_ewok;1352663 wrote:Paterno did a lot of good deeds too and made only one (fatal) mistake. Sometimes one mistake is all it takes. Now, Reno has not killed or raped anyone but he sat on his hands and played dumb when he had the power to send a message and take a stand. Shame on him.

IS NOT THE SAME AS

I have good values. I am 64 years old and I do not have a police record. I have always been an exemplary citizen and that is probably more than you have been.GoChiefs;1352656 wrote:Let's see...calling a young girl a lying, drunken whore that was raped by a football team that you support with a head coach that would much rather just cover it up instead of seeing justice done. Which, you support as well. Yea, you have great values! You are disgusting and should be quite ashamed of those "values". It's nice to know you think football is more important. Absolutely disgraceful.

If that tramp were my daughter, I would send her to rehab with the hopes that the administrators would do a better job of parenting than I had done. She should be taken away from her parents. They obviously taught her nothing.
I will repeat for the benefit of the inane who read this that I think the boys should be tried in adult court. If they really did rape her, they should spend many years in jail. Rape is terrible crime. There is no excuse for it. Don't think I'm taking the boys' side, because I'm not. If they are guilty, I hope they rot in jail.
But I am saying that the girl is also guilty, and she is bringing down a whole town. That little whore may bring down the finest institution I have ever been a part of. If she had not lied to her parents and if she had not voluntarily gotten falling-down drunk, this mess never would have happened. She will have to live with this.
I don't know why I typed this. The only people who are going to read are a bunch of trash. I only write on these blogs because I am crippled and confined to a wheelchair. I don't have anything else to do. If you respond and call me a nasty name, just pretend I'm peeing on you because that's what's you deserve.

Football coach defends players in rape case, goes on the stand as character witness, several more football players implicated by many people familiar with the case. Fairwoodking says it has nothing to do with football.FairwoodKing;1352004 wrote:Why does the Reno situation have to black or white? Reno is a very complicated person with many shades of gray. I am the first to say that he handled the rape case very poorly. He has a reputation for being very protective of his boys. This time he went too far. As far as his treatment of the reporter, I don't like reporters. Reno has a big mouth but he is a very peaceful man. He wouldn't hurt a fly. As I have already mentioned, he once threatened me in front of the entire Boosters Club. He came storming into the room yelliing, "Where's Fairwoodking?" So much for him not doing the internet. He never laid a finger on me and I knew he wouldn't.
On the good side, Reno has been very kind to people who needed kindness. He was extremely kind to my elderly father. They were great friends. Reno would sometimes ask Dad what Big Red football was like in the 1920's, '30's, '40's, and '50's. Dad saw all those teams. Reno would ask what the lineups were like, what kind of players they had, what the competition was like, etc. But Reno's greatest accomplishment in kindness is what he has done for Matt Firm. He has treated this boy like a king and has done everything possible to help him.
Reno deserves to keep his job. This has nothing to do with football. You don't fire an employee of 30+ years just because he made one foul-up. I don't like him, but I'm on his side. If you choose to disagree with me, that's your perogative. But I'm not changing my mind.
In THIS case, football IS involved. You are nuttier than a squirrel turd.FairwoodKing;1352659 wrote:You obviously didn't read what I said. I have hired and fired people.
