The last few years, the road courses have grown on me. Really enjoy the races. I think one needs in the chase as well.

No. I went in 2011. It will be awhile before I go back.

I'll be there Saturday. Heading down through Indiana to avoid traffic. Can't wait to wear my Jeff Gordon shirt as he's running in 20th.

I hear they have the traffic situation straightened out. I know they added more parking. In 2011, there was still a lot of highway construction going on. That was a big reason for the congestion as well. I'm sure a lot of it is done by now. We bought a package where we sat on top of the building off turn 4 in the pits. They oversold that, so I literally had to stand all day and all night during the race. Thankfully, 2 gentlemen got up so my wife and son could sit. Then the escalators going to the pits broke after the race. That sucked going up all those fucking steps after standing in humid 95 degree heat all day long. They ran out of water at the track and didn't have enough restrooms. I think everything that could go wrong did, Lol.Terry_Tate;1464339 wrote:I'll be there Saturday. It was my sons first race, and our driver Kyle won, so that was cool. He got to experience his driver winning his first race. He made it on SPEED's pre race show, met Kyle, got lug nuts from Gordon, Johnson, Kyle, Junior, and 3 or 4 other teams cars that they handed to him when they were pushing the cars back to the garage. We were at Victory Lane for Kyle's celebration, and when they were pushing Kyle's car out of VL, one of Kyle's crew members gave my son his VL worn inaugural winner hat. So he had a great experience, so all that made it well worth it. But because of everything else, I won't be back anytime soon.
Enjoy!

Almost everything about the track from a fan standpoint sucks aside from the view. They have screwed more things up since opening than I could if I ran the damn place. Went to all 3 races the past 2 years but just Cup this year because of some of the stuff they've done, so I know what you mean there. And there is literally zero traffic in Indiana, so the highway could be smooth for such a big crowd but Indiana would still be faster. They still suck at getting people away from the track though. I know it's a lot of people but I've been to 40ish races and Kentucky is one of the worst but they are getting better. Still a long way to go though.

How the hell could they have made it worse??? LolTerry_Tate;1464358 wrote:Almost everything about the track from a fan standpoint sucks aside from the view. I do give them the benefit of the doubt though since this is only their 3rd year hosting such a big event.

The very first year it opened my Dad and I were astonished at how badly the place was run. I swear they had never been to a race before and decided to start out by having 50,000 people show up. It is just their 3rd year but Bruton and the boys know how to get things done so I expect more out of them. Hopefully they'll do a fine job this year though.

Wasn't it the truck race that became a muddy mess in the parking lot? Also remember long lines for the bathrooms.Terry_Tate;1464361 wrote:The very first year it opened my Dad and I were astonished at how badly the place was run. .

I concur on having one in the chase, but I've always loved road courses.GoChiefs;1461208 wrote:The last few years, the road courses have grown on me. Really enjoy the races. I think one needs in the chase as well.

Decent crowd for the day after a rainout. It helps when it's a Saturday night race because a) generally don't have to be at work the next day and b) you usually have the hotel for that night. All of that goes out the window on a Sunday rainout and everyone goes home.

Yea...apron is slick as hell. Got on the apron, got loose, and just shot back up the track.

Hell yea, Kenseth. 4th win of the year. Awesome call by his crew chief to go with a gas only stop to get out in front. His transfer to JGR was a great move. Suck it Roush.

A lot of drivers were passing people on he apron no problem. The trucks and nationwide were going below the line too.GoChiefs;1466037 wrote:Yea...apron is slick as hell. Got on the apron, got loose, and just shot back up the track.
Watching the video again you can see the back of Kurt's car get loose but I think that's after the contact.
imo- Kurt is a hell of a driver. I'm sure he'd never purposely wreck a driver from the team where he was fired.....

The only one I saw go completely below the line was Stewart. (Not doubting you, just sayin') Trucks and Nationwide still had some rubber on the apron from practices and qualifying. I doubt it was as slick as it wasfor the Cup guys since the rain washed everything off. Kurt apologized, said it was his fault. Hell even crybaby Brad said he knows he didn't intentionally wreck him. Kurt was fired 2 and a half seasons ago, I'm sure he's over it by now. Lol. I just think your looking more into it than you should. Just a racing incident, IMO.

Flippin' thru the channels tonight. Apparently at Daytoner they have some sort of pairs race. Not a single auto on the track by itself, all autos travelling connected. Interesting.

I think you and I are the only ones that prefer tandem over assembly line

Freight Trains are better overall but the last few laps are unreal in tandems. It's like a marathon version of a wheelbarrow racets1227;1468341 wrote:I think you and I are the only ones that prefer tandem over assembly line

TNT fucks up the only thing they've ever done right, as tomorrow's race will only feature "Wide Open Coverage" (race on at all times/commercial in split screen) for the last 30 laps.
Please FOX or ESPN, make a bid to absorb those 6 races
