CNN reporting all sorts of positive accounts from people about Nancy Lanza's parenting, including that she was a loving mother who was pretty much with her son at all times, ready to drop any plans she had at the drop of the hat if her son needed her or if he was having an especially difficult day. One person close to the family said that she was ready to sell her home and move with her son to anywhere in the country that he wanted to go study.

Other reports are that Adam Lanza was a vegan, as he was said to be completely opposed to any violence, including against animals. That he was even afraid to shoot his mother's gun at the target range, for fear that something "bad could happen." (Well something bad happened, lol. A moment of levity, folks.) When he did shoot the gun, he was adamant about following proper shooting procedures to the most immaculate detail. By all accounts, Adam Lanza seems to have simply had a mental break.

Nancy Lanza is not to blame at all. She is a victim.

More than likely, but it does seem that there are quite a few parents who children that they are afraid will turn into a monster like in this situation.

While I get why the media is still reporting on the story -- it remains the biggest news event in the world today -- do they really need to invade people's privacy and interview people grieving at the makeshift shrine for the kids? That seems a bit over the top, and unnecessary.

Plus, they are getting way too personal about the kids, IMO. CNN just went to commercial amidst emotional piano music with a voiceover saying, "Six-year-old Jessica's dream was to become a cowgirl and own a horse by the age of 10. She asked Santa for cowgirl boots and a hat for Christmas."

Again, I get that the media needs to report on this, but they are sick. They almost revel in it. But I am watching continuously, so I am feeding them.

Not sure if its been talked about or not but it seems the westboro baptist church was planing on showing up at the funerals. It has sparked a showdown between them and the group Anonymous. So far Anonymous has hacked their websites, released their personal info, and got petitions to the government passed in unbelievably rapid fashion to legally declare them a hate group and review their tax exempt status as well as spread info on ways to counter the protest. wbc has countered this by getting really pissed since they are no match for Anon and can't do a thing to stop them. It is seriously awesome to watch a group of people come together like this.

As more and more heartfelt stories come out about Nancy Lanza from the people who knew her and as we learn additional details about the good mother and good person she was and tried so hard to be, I can't believe people continue to say she deserves sentenced to eternal fire and that it's a positive she's dead. Judgement rushing and high horse riding are not endearing traits.

Cnn is reporting that the computers they pulled out of the shooters house were all smashed.

If that's the case he clearly had been planning this out down to the last detail if he was trying to make it hard for cops to piece together a motive by going through his stuff.

Interesting to hear how "smashed" they were. It's pretty hard to destroy a hard drive to the point that the authorities can't pull stuff off it.

I wonder if he shot them? CNN didn't really clarify how the computers were destroyed. "Smashed" could mean a variety of things.

It will be extremely interesting to find out what may have been on it if anything is salvageable.

First thing people always want to know is "why"?

He had to be incredibly sadistic to do what he did, so maybe he just was looking to make figuring out "why" as hard as can be if not impossible (we don't know how smashed his computers are).

I'm sure everyone has probably seen and it's probably already been brought up here, but I just read that 6 of the kids died because they tried to make a run for it instead of staying hidden after the teacher bluffed that they were in the auditorium. You can't expect first graders not to panic in that situation, but that's even more tragic that they could literally have been seconds away from the gunman moving on. Article said the 7 kids who stayed put all lived.

Child is burning himself with cigarettes.
Mother says she is "losing him."

Mother trains said son how to shoot guns.
Mother keeps high powered weaponry in home where son has easy access to it.

Mother put her "hobby" above the safety of others. 20 children dead.

Her son's insanity isn't her fault(maybe) but her selfishness and delusion are. She paid for it with her life. A fitting punishment.

I would hope even gun nuts would acknowledge that keeping high powered weapons in a home with a developmentally disabled child who is exhibiting signs of violent tendencies is irresponsible, but somehow I know they'll find a way to defend it.

Except that everyone close to her (friends and family) said that she was not a "gun nut," and that she made sure that the guns that she did have, which were all legal and for her protection (again, single woman living alone in a mansion; she has the right to protect her shit) were properly secured and that Adam would not have had access to them. That's all we know at this point, and all we have to go on. How do you know that Adam didn't somehow contrive a plan to figure out how to obtain them and then murder his mother once he did?

Nobody knows yet, and we might never know. Jumping to conclusions proves nothing.

All her family and all her friends down at the My Place bar are the ones recounting how "normal & loving" she was...what else are these people going to say? ...they are all feeling the shame of guilt for not doing a damn thing too.

Also, what parent thinks that their child is going to murder them? According to friends and family, good people to go by, by the way, Adam was the Lanza mother's world and she was already planning to move to Washington State to be close to him. Apparently, he was planning to attend school there. A child with Asperger's is still a normal, highly-functioning kid. Even if he was displaying signs of acting out or emotional problems, I very much doubt that the Lanza mother would have ever believed in her wildest dreams that he would one day kill her and then commit the second deadliest school shooting in American history.

That is something nobody could ever see coming, unless a plan or something was uncovered.

Clearly she didn't.

I'm sure it's difficult to admit your kid has the potential to be a violent criminal. But there's a difference between not believing it, and being so obtuse as to take your mentally unstable child to the shooting range to train him on high powered weaponry, then keeping that weaponry in the home. There's 20 families that wish she'd picked up knitting like a normal human being.
