Leap year was accounted for but it wasnt known as leap year then.

The Mayan calendar is very inaccurate when calculating years. Not only did they not account for leap years, they were completely wrong about how many days were in a year. The Mayan “tun” is 360 days long, equivalent of 0.986 years.

When we went atv in cozumel through the Mayan Ruins our leader who was a Mayan told us it was all bs, he all told us what tequila we should drink, and that being gay like Ricky Martin was wrong.

Imagine in a similar scenario where computers from the 80's are found...and deciding that 12/31/1999 was the predicted end of the world because computers didn't allow for the year 2000.
