Throw in Michigan...and that OOC slate compares favorably to UCF, UAB, Miami OH, and Cal.

But wins over Georgia, LSU, and Mississippi State are all better than any single wins that OSU has.

Also, OOC gets brought up a lot. It is a small sample with little differentiation in the grand scheme of things. However, the SEC has 6 wins against AQ schools with a winning record. The Pac has 4. The B1G has 2. The Big XII has 1. Next point?

Prove it. OSU has never lost to any opponent. Bama lost to a Freshman QB at home. LOL

Not necessarily... I think the ncg should be the best of the rest. A&M beat Bama, so A&M is better, correct? NO ONE has beaten either ND or OSU.

B1G is not even close to being as bad as the Big East. And if you're going to try to claim they are, I'm not going to waste my time responding to you.

The Big East is a BCS conference in name only... Half the current schools were until relatively recently in non-BCS conferences. Just getting invited to a "BCS conference" doesn't instantly make you better.

The only "good" schools that were in it have already or are in the process of jumping ship.

I mean, they both lost to the MAC three times this year. True, Pitt did lose to Youngstown State, but the B1G also had losses to Louisiana Tech and Navy.

Agreed. There is a discrepancy in talent and quality of play amongst BCS conferences; they aren't all equal. It is obvious that the Big East isn't as good as...anyone really. It is also obvious that going undefeated in the B1G is not nearly as impressive as only losing 1 game in the SEC.

On one hand, you want "BCS conferences" to be equal. Then you want them to not be equal when it comes to the Big East. But then you want them to be equal again when it comes to the B1G and SEC. But they aren't.

How quickly people forget than an undefeated Auburn team was left out of the Championship game about 8 years ago. My my, it's amazing what a multi-billion dollar television deal can do for a conference. :rolleyes:

I don't think it's so "obvious" that it is better to get 1 loss in the SEC than undefeated in the B1G. Texas A&M wasn't exactly destroying the Big 12 before the season before they left for the SEC. And then all of the sudden they are instantly better in what was supposed to be a vastly superior conference while breaking in a rookie QB? I don't buy into the SEC hype. Are they arguably the best? Yes. But I don't think the difference is that great.

But I do think that the Big East is a complete joke of a football conference as far as the BCS ones go. There are better mid-major conferences.

I will give ESPiN credit though for marketing their conference well and brainwashing most sport fans.

The point is, you basically said no exceptions, and then threw in an exception.

Ya, fair enough. I was originally writing it out as a flat out no exceptions. But the Big East is losing their preferred status for the future (I believe I saw that at least), which is one of the reasons I said what I did.

LOL @ people defending the Big East as a good conference. Hell I don't even think some of the Big East teams could win the SEC East, the worst division in college football.

Unfortunately for them, it was rotten timing. The BCS is year by year. That year, the #1 and #2 teams never lost...

Not really. It was people didn't respect the SEC over other conferences. Once ESPN started pumping people full of SEC propaganda to help them earn a better ROI for their TV contract did the SEC start getting preferential treatment.

I understand that ESPN would do that. But how/why do coaches from every conference in the country benefit from buying the hype? And why do the Harris Poll voter benefit from buying in? And how did computers arrive at such a bias?

Right because every coach in the country watches every team play and makes an independent opinion. They watch the talking heads just like most of the fans and do just enough to keep their vote so they can bolster ahead their own interest when needed.

Oh I know they can manipulate the system for their own gain. There's just zero motivation to buy into and support the hype of another conference if you are a coach. Surely after six titles in a row, if coaches were going to rig the polls or title game, it wouldn't be in favor of an SEC team.

That Freshman QB will also be in NY and contending for the Heisman Trophy. Why won't there be any CURRENT Buckeyes in NY?

Don't say because of the media bias towards the SEC, because 2/3 of the finalists are not from the SEC and don't downplay the Heisman Trophy because then you will basically be shitting on your OSU boys who have won it before.
