Probably true, except for the part where he's now pitching at a Junior College in Mississippi.Old Rider;1510653 wrote:Maybe thats why they pulled his scholarship...they realized he was a MAC player at best, not a BIG 10.
Regardless, he will be better off for it.
I'd just rather see a school pull an offer than an actual scholarship. That's my perspective. Can you imagine being that kid's parents? Talk about financial strain. If the kid's not any good, tough. You shouldn't have offered him. If he's getting in trouble with the law, etc., then that's a different issue altogether. I'm guessing Akron will encounter this issue with one of their soon to be receivers in a year or so.

If Akron keeps the offer on the table for Dennis then their recruiter for this area should be fired!!jaco;1511193 wrote:Probably true, except for the part where he's now pitching at a Junior College in Mississippi.

Seems like if a school realizes that someone has smaller-school talent after they've already given the scholarship, then they didn't do a good enough job watching him during the period of the offer.
I will say this about the Dennis situation. I hope he gets good enough to be a functional part of the team at Akron. I don't think he will, but I hope I'm wrong.

All D1 and D2 scholarships are offered on a year to year basis. All prospective athletes are informed that they must prove each year they are valuable enough to the program to be offered a scholarship the next year. This is nothing new. If it appears you will never be able to contribute, your scholarship will be pulled and offered to someone else. It's just the way it is.jaco;1511193 wrote:Probably true, except for the part where he's now pitching at a Junior College in Mississippi.

Norwayne maintains
high state ratings
NORWAYNE—Superintendent
Karen O’Hare
gave an update at a recent
board meeting on the district’s
state report card
ratings.
It was the first report
card released under the
new rating system.
“One of the goals of the
new report card was to
make it easier for parents
and the community to
read and understand their
school district’s results
and ratings,” said O’Hare.
O’Hare said it is still a
complex system, and it is
the district’s responsibility
to make sure the parents
and community members
can understand how the
district compares with
others in the state.
Norwayne ranked 38th
out of 882 schools in the
state. The district met 24 of
24 indicators and achieved
an A rating for indicators
met. It had a performance
index score of 89.6 percent,
which resulted in a B rating.
In the progress category,
the district’s overall valueadded
rating was an A.
“There will be more component
grades added to
the report card in 2015 and
our challenge as a district
is not only to maintain our
high ratings, but to respond
to the new challenges facing
education today,” said
O’Hare. “Norwayne is considered
to be one of the best
districts in the state and this
distinction only comes with
the commitment and hard
work on the part of the students,
staff and the support
of a very caring community.
Our goal is to keep all
stakeholders informed as we
move our educational programs
forward continually
evaluating what is best for
our children at every level.”
Various permanent
improvement projects
were approved at the
board meeting.
The projects included
guards on band and storage
cabinets, at a cost of $910
by Stoller Custom Cabinets;
fencing, at a cost of $4,810 by
Austin Deck & Fence and
water treatment for boilers,
at a cost of $800 by Patriot.
All of the projects will take
place at the middle school/
high school building.
The board also approved
expenditures for the new
concession stand that is being
constructed at the school
stadium. They approved
expenses in an amount not
to exceed $50,000.
The board’s next regular
meeting is Oct. 28, with
an executive session at 6
p.m., followed by the business
meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Gee, Norwayne got the same school rating as nearly every other WCAL school. How unique!!
As for the Zips, I think we now know why they are 1-29 their last 30 games. Seriously, maybe Dennis will be an improvement?

^^this sounds like bull. I bet this expenditure is actually the last hush payment in the "infamous spanking incident cover up of 2011".Paul;1512054 wrote: water treatment for boilers,

When I think of Norwayne's title I just think how good and lucky you have to be to win a title. I am an Orrville fan and we were both good and lucky when we won and when we lost we were good and not so lucky. It is so much harder than most think it is...

At Norwayne - Chippewa game and what a good one. I would like to say to Rittmans Head Coach what were you thinking when u said that u didn't need Austin Jones and that u could win without him? That kid is making some big hits and plays for the Cats D. But hey what do we know when u can't win with what u have.

Great Win Chipps. Norwayne too many mistakes and the defense got shredded. The tide is turning in Wayne County.
