Nothing about that wall is unique to Ohio State, but it is a sad statement of today's college football that something like that is necessary - to remind young men with a big sign on the wall that they should avoid drugs and weapons. Again, I'm not saying these problems or lessons are unique to Ohio State. Just pathetic that this is something that merits reminding in such an overt way.
I agree with this.

Give me a break.

So if a sign, T-Shirt, painting, etc., said to work hard should we just assume that it is laziness that made that necessary? If I go to a church and there is some sign about belief and faith, should we assume that it is a reflection on the church members lack of faith?

There is a difference between motivation for good and being told you shouldn't abuse women.

You would have a point if it said "stop disrespecting or beating women." Either way, while there are some major problems in college sports, trying to assume that this sign is an indicator of the larger cultural problems is a bit extreme.

Well, I wouldn't have gone quite that far. But I do think it is pathetic that a sign like that is needed.

Yes, please go into how this is a microcosm of society and how it affects us in a socialistic way...

We all can't wait for that post...

It may not be needed. In fact, half the things coaches do to motivate players are probably not needed but they don't hurt.

Why was Hyde suspended and not kicked off? Not sure how I feel about that but obviously I don't have all the info.

No clue, but it seems that they should let all the details come out. I guess I'm in favor of a little bit of due process. Seems like you could be setting yourself up for a lawsuit if you kick a kid off a team and it comes out that the player did nothing wrong.

He hasn't been arrested, charged or even interviewed.

Probably because most of the facts aren't known, and it's best to not make decisions with far less information than will be available soon.

Be interesting to see Buckeye fans' reaction if he doesn't get kicked off the team, after all the comments that were made.

If he didn't punch a girl in the face and is brought back, i'm cool with that. If he did hit a girl (or a guy) he needs to be gone and if he's not, thats b.s.

IF, since no charges have been filed its only fair to say if, he hit this girl and did so on purpose, gtfo. And if that is the case, pretty sure he will be booted. As that is what Kleins original punishment is.

Doesn't sound good for him. As its been said there is video and plenty of witnesses. Apparently the investigators get sunday and monday off. That is why there is nothing being done yet.

Yeah I think Urban jumped to conclusion with Klein last year when reports came out and then eventually dropped. Probably learned from that and therefore suspended Hyde until he's charged/convicted. Too many people on twitter who were at the bar posted that Hyde was about to get arrested so I think the end result will be he's dismissed from the team. But from Urban's stand point their letting the process work out first.

The notion that "our players need to be smarter" implies that there's some smarts to begin with. Questionable.
