I've got some personal contacts with players on the team and they all praise the changes in expectations and commitment to team and University. Tressel it turns out was one of the nation's biggest frauds to ever come down the pike. Urbie has made some significant improvements and I believe will continue to so. However, 18 - 22 yrs olds are basically knuckleheads and some are going to be bigger idiots than others, Meyer will have to remain very vigilant of the ones like Hernandez who may have a more sinister selfishness that can briong a progeram down.
Agreed. I heard how when Tressel was coach the team was very cliquey and not interested in being together much at all

[h=1]High winds damage Ohio State scoreboard[/h]By Tom Fornelli | College Football Writer

July 12, 2013 1:22 pm ET
As you saw in the video above, the scoreboard at Ohio Stadium was damaged by high winds on Wednesday, as one of the pillars on top was knocked over. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, and the damage done shouldn't be too hard to fix.
Of course, now that we've seen the damage and know that nobody got hurt, it's time to assign blame to somebody for this storm, and you know whom I'm going to blame?
That's right. Urban Meyer.
The winds that damaged the scoreboard? Yeah, they belonged to a storm that originated in Florida when Urban Meyer was still the Gators coach. But did Urban Meyer do anything at Florida to stop that storm from forming? Of course he didn't, because Urban Meyer only cares about winning, not meteorology.
I hope you're happy, Urban Meyer

The point about the coach not being responsible for a player's actions later in life has been made; quit beating a dead horse. I happen to agree with it in most circumstances. I don't feel sorry for Meyer or other big coaches. If they want to be the $4 million dollar men while they coach college amateurs for billion dollar TV contracts - guess what, scrutiny, both fair and unfair, are coming along with it. Painting these coaches as poor souls who are receiving unfair criticism is pathetic. If they don't like the heat, they ought get out of the kitchen.

P.S. I've heard enough of Meyer's family defending him on this point. They're the beneficiaries of the multi million dollar public school contracts. So STFU.

College kids drink, but usually to get busted for underage consumption you have to do something stupid or be extremely intoxicated for the police to bother asking. It is a bad way to start a college career, hopefully he can be more discrete with any future drinking (I'm just being realistic that college kids will drink) and doesn't let this kind of thing become a problem.

Saw a couple players saying the weight room wasn't gonna be a fun place today. Id guess they pay as a team when someone messes up.

This is not a big deal. But it'll be used as one im sure by the coaches.

Drinking underage is no biggie. Being dumb enough to try going back to the bar ...now that's stupidity

I've always liked the "pay as a team" method in sports. Sometimes kids don't like to listen to coaches/adults. But they will listen to teammates.

Pretty much confirms what I posted. That's just being an idiot, and he deserves to get punished. You got a pass then you pushed the envelope and got busted.

"@Mark_Schlabach: Muschamp on OSU turning in Fla: We appreciate our friends in Ohio making sure we comply w NCAA rules. They certainly know about NCAA rules."

Can't wait to see what Bielema, Saban, and Spurrier have to say about Ohio State as well.
