Also Jon Embree is out at Colorado

ot sure if we're doing BCS schools here or all of D1, but Western Michigan whacked Bill Cubit last week (they played their last game on 11/17, losing to EMU, and fired him a couple hours later). Also Mike Price is resigning/reitring at UTEP.

Idaho shitcanned Robb Akey midseason, so technically it's open I think. Interim Jason Gesser was not formally awarded the permanent job. yet. He may end up getting it, but they may interview others.
We'll do 'em all, since they may impact BCS schools.

On the Tressel front, doesn't he work in the Akron Ath Dept?

He has a ton of years in the Ohio PERS system via Youngstown State and Ohio State, if he gets retirement and gets ~75-80% of the average of his five highest years....why on Earth would you even think about taking an out-of-state job? You're already a legend in Ohio, and will get 3/4 or 4/5 of your Ohio State pay FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

No, but you make a good point regarding his State of Ohio benefits.

Would like to see Gary Pinkel get the Purdue job. Just my personal view, I haven't heard anything about him even considering that option or if Purdue would even offer. I just always liked Pinkel when he was at Toledo and would like to see him in the B1G against another former Toledo coach (Beckman-Illinois)

I'd be surprised if Pinkel left Mizzou. They were riddled with injuries all year, hence their miserable record.

That seals it. He will coach a B1G team next season, you're always wrong.

Not sure how much retirement benefits mean to someone that is a multimillionaire. I would imagine he's pretty well set up for retirement, but does a guy like Tress ever really retire? There will always be money for him to make outside football.

The program is in much worse shape than it was with Dan Hawkins. They were one of the worst teams in college football this season.
Then I suggest you read the transcript of the press conference announcing his firing. The AD basically rips apart the athletic department and how small the budget is and how they may not be able to compete in their new conference. The AD is a moron. He basically just admitted how shitty the facilities and budget is there and then is going to start looking for a coach to sign a contract there?

Lot of small stories coming out about how bad it was at Colorado this year. Guess they didn't have enough chairs for the offensive linemen to watch film and didn't get them until week 9.

Also, Embree says he had to buy water every week for the coaching staff and the university wouldn't reimburse him for it.

Basically, Embree should have gotten more than 2 seasons given those circumstances. I'm not sure how you expect to put a good product on the field with that kind of budget.

wasnt Stoops a failure at 'Zona? Dont see him competing in the SEC if he cant win in the Pac 12.

He does have NE Ohio connections, though.

UK's not only in the SEC, but in a state that lives and breathes hoops like no other....good luck with that, Coach Stoops.

No, that's Mike Stoops, who I believe is the DC at Oklahoma...Mark Stoops was at FSU.

What would be interesting, would be whether or not LSU would respond if it was true.

Les would be stupid to leave LSU for Arkansas. However, LSU could potentially find another coach if they are throwing anywhere close to that amount of money around...

It seems one of the benefits of hiring Stoops for UK will be with a direct impact to take some current and potential recruits already committed to FSU.
