If I understand the rules correctly, for a Non AQ to get a BCS bid, they need to be ranked top 12 OR top 16 and ranked higher than a champion from an AQ conference.

Kent currently sits at #23 in the BCS. Without a win over Ohio and a game against a possibly ranked opponent in NIU left.

Looking at the standings, I'd expect Kent to jump Boise (the only other Non AQ candidate) with a win over NIU. This week, Louisville, Michigan, Rutgers, and Texas lost. Oklahoma St is currently in a dog fight with Oklahoma. Chances are UCLA loses to Stanford, and Oregon St is getting stomped by Oregon. Arizona lost, as did Washington, so I do not see them getting jumped.

Looking at this, seems KSU has a chance to move clear up to 15. They will be ranked over the highest Big East team since Lousville and Rutgers both laid eggs today. It depends on how much the polls drop some of these teams for losing, however.
However, the biggest factor in the whole thing is that they must beat NIU, which is very questionable, IMO.

Unfortunately no even though I think Kent has had one of those once every 50 years kind of seasons and deserves a shot at it. Even if Kent dominates Northern Illinois in the MAC championship and more Top 15 teams lose next week the answer is still no.

The BC$ will never allow it.

Yeah, probably that the human element will keep them out of it. Though, it has happened with many other mid-majors including Hawaii.

LOL. BCS locks.

Notre Dame
2 SEC Teams
2 Pac 12 Teams
1 Big XII Team
1 ACC Team
1 B1G Team
1 Big East Team

That's 9 bids. It's impossible because there are 3-loss or less teams in the ACC and Big XII that would get in over Kent State.

For instance, there is no way Kent would be in over the Oklahoma/Oklahoma State winner. Or the non-AQ Clemson or Florida State. It's impossible to be honest...

Exactly. A 1-loss non-AQ team doesn't even have anything close to an argument here...I laughed that it got brought up...

how is it impossible? Im not saying anything about an at-large bid. Check my link, if they finish in the top 16, they will get an AUTO bid. Need to work on that selective reading.

There is no way they finish in the top 16 of the BCS. This is NOT like the poll rankings. Regardless of who loses, there is no chance their average comes up high enough to even crack the top 18, possibly even 20. Oregon State, UCLA and Florida State won't fall behind them. If Oklahoma loses, OSU moves up and OU won't fall below Kent.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Kent in over a 3 or 4-loss team. It's stupid that another SEC team can't get in despite them probably having up to 4 teams finish in the BCS top 10 that can't play in the BCS games. It's stupid.

It just has no chance of happening for Kent, not with how far they are behind in the computer averages...

They will get blown out 88-0 if they played in a BCS bowl.

good point. Just looked at the standings and not the disparity in averages.

No they aren't. No bcs bowl is going to take kent st as an at large and they have to be top 8 I believe to get an automatic bid

jesus christ how many times do I have to repeat the circumstances. If they get to 16 and are the highest rated Non-AQ, they are AUTOMATICALLY. Check 3b in my link on the opening post and it tells you all you need to know. (Kent would be ranked higher than the Big East champ).

Which by the way is a fucking joke.

Notre Dame is a non-AQ. They should play by the same fucking rules as all of the other non-AQ's.
