A team that struggles shooting needs to get up and down the court a bit. Especially with the athletes that Ohio st has. I think Thompson and Ross would flourish in a fast pace open floor offense. Right now Ohio st's only scoring option in the half court offense is Thomas. I think getting up and down the court a bit will help Thomas get some open looks also

Something I didn't really realize as the game was going on was that Lenzelle Smith only played 11 minutes. Not sure if Matta was sending a message or what, but Lenzelle is probably the most hot/cold guy on the team and I've been thinking he plays too much for awhile now, so really think taking him out and putting Scott in more really helped last night. LZ has his moments where he's good, but I think he's another guy who his role got to be more than what he's capable of doing.

Shannon Scott's excellent play was the reason that LZ got fewer minutes. If Scott continues to play at the level he played last night LZ's minutes will not increase. Given the inconsistency of this team LZ will probably get 25 minutes against MSU.Terry_Tate;1393510 wrote:Something I didn't really realize as the game was going on was that Lenzelle Smith only played 11 minutes. Kindof random, but what are your favorite Buckeye games or moments since you have been a fan? My quick top five:
1. OSU beats Xavier in 2007 NCAA tourney (Ron Lewis for 3!)
2. OSU beats Georgetown in 2007 Final 4
3. OSU beats #1 seed Auburn in 1999 Sweet 16
4. OSU beats Syracuse in 2012 Elite 8 (because there are tons of Syracuse fans around here)
5. OSU beats Tennessee in in 2007 Sweet 16 (huge comeback, block by Oden to end it)
Honorable mention: Beating undefeated Illinois in 2005 (Matt Sylvester), OSU beats #1 Indiana in 1992, OSU beats St. Johns in 1999 Elite 8, Evan Turner's game winning 3 to beat Michigan in the Big 10 tourney

I really liked the lineup of Thomas, Craft, Scott, Ross and Ravenel when they were in there together last night. They played with an energy and chemistry that has been missing of late.Terry_Tate;1393510 wrote:Something I didn't really realize as the game was going on was that Lenzelle Smith only played 11 minutes. I agree. Craft and Scott are a nasty defensive guard tandem, best in the nation IMO, and you saw it on display yesterday. Ross has his lapses as we all know, but to me, as I've said often, they need him to be out there 20+ minutes a game because he is by far the best shot at a 2nd scorer that this team has. You can somewhat get away with his defense with Craft and Scott out there as well.vball10set;1393563 wrote:I really liked the lineup of Thomas, Craft, Scott, Ross and Ravenel when they were in there together last night. Scott is the better player. Matta needs to man up and have Smith come off the bench.Terry_Tate;1393510 wrote:Something I didn't really realize as the game was going on was that Lenzelle Smith only played 11 minutes. I would like a solid W today, but I don't see it happening.
Thoughts?

This would be a great win. MSU is the real deal though.

I had that feeling before the last IU game and we got rolled. After the Wisky loss I'm just kind of deflated. A win today would be a surprise.se-alum;1395283 wrote:I actually think the Bucks get this one!

Love the inbound lob. Carolina used to get that once a game back in the Dean days.

That may be one of my pet peeves of sports....giving up layups or dunks off inbounds plays.

The only way Amir should see the floor is if Ravenel and McDonald both foul out--he's pathetic...and Thomas better get his head out of his ass in the second half, 'cause we can't win without him.

At one point late in the 1st half it was Payne with 10 rebounds and OSU 11.

Lenzelle Smith frustrates the hell out of me. He shouldn't play the rest of this game.
