1.Was Matta saving Ross for the NCAA Tournament?

2.Mark Lyons is one tough cover.

3.Arizona's inability to hit second half 3's opened the door for OSU's victory.

4.Will Paulus be moving to Northwestern?

5.Arizona's players and coach were very composed in their post game interviews.

6. Lyons mentioned attending a summer camp with Ross where they became good friends. What is the deal with these summer camps? Who sponsors them and how does a player get invited.

7.Ohio State showed great mental toughness in the 1st half.

8.The way the game was called was not a plus for OSU.

9.OSU has been very fortunate to hit 2 big shots to win games. Maybe, they are a team of destiny.

10.I was happt to see Amir Williams make some positive contributions and show some emotion.

I don't really think Matta was saving him so much as things are finally starting to click for Ross. He averaged 16.8 minutes and 8 points per game in the regular season, he averaged 17.6 minutes and 9 points in the B1G tournament and he's been playing about 19.5 and scoring 13.7 in the NCAA tourament.

from the OSU/Arizona thread

This. I think it is just finally starting to work for Ross. Plus it helps him that we are no longer playing B1G defenses and games which tend to be more physical while he is a bit more finesse.

Coming out of the first half I was saying to my friends that Arizona wasn't going to shoot the 3 in the second half like they did in the first. I think they were 5-7 either at half time or just before they missed one more and 5-8 at half-time. The law of averages basically assumed they were going to start missing eventually.

And I agree that the way the game was called definitely didn't help OSU. We're generally pretty physical, and having Craft have to manage his foul trouble obviously hurt.

But I was confident going into half time with the way we closed the half, and I'm not surprised that we continued to have second half dominance. We have great bench play this year which is really paying off in the tournament.

Be honest though, a LOT of people were thinking those things, and Craft did have a stretch were he was struggling offensively and seemed to be hurting the team.

It's easy to look back now and say it was dumb, but at the time...

Just shows that every player has slumps and benching isn't always the answer.

Sorry that we were hard on a guy shooting 39% but yet taking the second most shots on the team. He's been a very different player the last 11 games, taking less jump shots and driving to the rim, and also Scott has done a lot more ball handling to take some of the pressure off Craft. I'm glad he's come around and hopefully his good play continues.

I want to say this team over achieved this year and they did really well to make the elite 8 and had a great season, but I'm still pissed they had what I thought was the easiest region and they lost to the god damned 9 seed.

I don't want to take anything away from Wichita State. They did what they need to do to get it done and they deserve to be in the final four. I'm just mildly pissed at how the buckeyes season ended.

OSU absolutely blew a golden opportunity. WSU had a nice game plan, but OSU just did not execute for 3/4 of the game. All of the pundits credited WSU's defense. I guess they don't know that OSU scored 44 points in the 2nd half because they executed better at both ends of the court. OSU blew this game.

This is it. Ohio State won the last 10 minutes or so 30-14. That is when they decided to stop being lazy as fuck on both ends of the floor. If they give all 40 minutes the same effort and concentration, they blow out the Shockers. Instead they can watch the Wolverines playing in Atlanta.

Letter to the editor:
As a basketball player at Ohio State, I am both proud and honored that our university follows our sport the way they do. It is a privilege to play for Ohio State, to be a part of winning the Big Ten Tournament this year, and to have made it to the Elite Eight.

I know that athletes in other sports that do not get much press coverage are also winning championships. Just two weekends ago, Logan Stieber won his second-consecutive national championship in his weight class in wrestling, and senior Marco Canevari marked the Scarlet and Gray’s single individual champion title in fencing by securing the gold medal in men’s epee on March 22. A day later, gymnasts Sarah Miller and Aly Marohn captured the Big Ten championship on the balance beam.

Last Tuesday, The Lantern featured an article in which athletic director Gene Smith talked about how Ohio State isn’t just a football school. He talked about the success of our basketball team. It would be good to remember that in the other sports, there is a lot of success too.

All athletes at Ohio State work very hard at being the best they can be at their sport. I wish that all athletes could receive the attention that our football and basketball teams get. They all deserve to be celebrated.
