This will be the first one I've ever purchased, so really do not have an idea where to look. I know what brands generally make good guns, but not handgun specific.

I am looking for a 9mm or .40 cal in the $300 range (im poor). Any suggestions on what to get or where to look? Going to a gun show in Akron this weekend.

Me to (kinda) my wife and i have decided we'd like to do the shooting range as a hobby and perhaps permits to carry. What do you all recommend? I'd like to have something for the long haul so anything that is known for quality also something a woman can shoot.

I really like my Ruger SR40c. You'll may just a bit more than $300, but not much.

I was thinking of starting a similar thread soon. I'm looking for something in the $500 or less range. Something that fits well in larger hands.

If you are going to be in Akron, just head over to either Wooster Ave or Edgewood Ave. Both are right off of MLK BLVD. Some brotha' will have a gun for sale around there.





In all seriousness-

Has anyone ever checked out the Ruger LCR 22?




With it's polymer frame the LCR 22 is very lightweight. Plus revolvers are simple and don't leave evidence everywhere after firing.

Thanks for posting that. It led me to the KLCR-357. I love S&W .357 revolvers but this looks a little more practical.

Just sold this Hi Point 9.
Like the Hi Points but it was inaccurate as fuck. Made in Ohio though.

I've been thinking about purchasing a .357 revolver myself. It's the only gun I've ever shot.

But they all seem a little too expensive for me.

Depends on what you are doing with it. Defense or carry, don't go 22. Plinking around and target only, then 22 is good.

Also, what exactly are you doing that you don't want to leave evidence? :eek:

I liked the feel of it and the fact that it was made in Ohio and it's P rated but I couldn't ever get it accurate enough to be effective.

Little clarification: What is the reason for a weapon?
CCW, home protection, your weapon or the wife, what to get started shooting as a family…

Little bit of information you should know.
  1. Where will you keep this weapon (with children safety box)? Need a gun box
  2. Where will you store the ammo and cleaning supplies: I suggest an old Army Ammo box ..(gun show $8.00- $12.00)
  3. Good idea before buying a weapon is a lesson and testing:
For $25.00 one hour (you and your wife) can shoot simulated weapon and get training and have fun all at the same time.
PM me and I will tell you a good place in Canton…. It will be fun and enjoyable and a learning lesson.

I like my Sig I have a P220 .45 and a P229 Enhanced Elite .9mm

I carry the P220 .45 as my CCW weapon
The wife and I both use the P229 .9mm little easy for the wife the handle the .9mm at home and on the range.

My next weapon will be the P229 X-Five Competition .9mm

I think this gun is perfect for you and your signature. I'll sell it to you for the cheap price of $499 which fits your range.
