Plybon is going to Akron. Same D-1 as Hill.
To dismiss her as not even worthy of consideration is dumb.
Interesting that she's from Pickerington...but ended up at Africentric. Weird how that always happens.
One averaged 17 pts & 8 Rebs per game..probably 3 or 4 blocks per game too.
The other averaged 24 pts & 8 Rebs per game...3 assists & 3 steals per game too.
Clearly..one is obviously more deserving than the other.

No it's not. That's what happens when it comes to private schools.RedRider1;1409005 wrote:Interesting that she's from Pickerington...but ended up at Africentric. Weird how that always happens.

Africentric isn't a private school.
Part of the Columbus City School District.
Still think its weird how they seem to attract so many good girls basketball players, but have had little else in the way of athletic success.
You're opinion is fine..I presented facts. One is subjective, the other isn't.

You presented stats. I asked the question earlier. If stats are what make a player the "best," then does that mean that Marshall Henderson is the best player in the SEC?RedRider1;1409030 wrote:Africentric isn't a private school.

Listen... Plybon is good. Real good. I just disagree with the assessment of her being the best player in D3.

One of the 3 best? That's how history will see it.
If you're saying she's not one of the 3 best in D-3, then that's where we strongly disagree.

To make the proper assessment, I'd have to see all of the girls in D3.RedRider1;1409080 wrote:One of the 3 best? That's how history will see it.

Wow...not going to give an inch are you?
This isn't going anywhere.
I'm saying (and the AP) she's one of the best in D-3 in Ohio.
You disagree, the onus is on you to prove otherwise.
If not, you're just being disagreeable for the purpose of trolling.
Congrats though...you're helping keep a dying board active. Maybe that was the point all along.

While this topic can create interesting dialogue, IMO no one can actually compare. I would believe that none of the posters have seen all of these girls play. And if so, some only once. It would be difficult to brand any the absolute best. With that being said, (and I haven't seen a number of them play), and being from the Northeast, I have seen Plybon play several times. While I would not claim any to be the absolute best, I will say that it would be difficult to find another who is a versatile as her. I am sure she cannot do some things as well and someone else but can do everything much better than average. For example, she cannot dominate inside like the Hill girl from Africentric. Also, the Hill girl cannot play point guard, 2 guard, or perhaps the forward position as well. PLybon was forced to play many minutes in post as a result of the team not having a strong inside game. Again, I haven't seen a lot of them play, but if they can play all positions as well as her, they are pretty good. I still really don't bellieve you can tag anyone the absolute best.

We had a boys coach calling and attempting to change plays to suit the offense/defense the team faced at a particular game. Some of the players did not respond, in part because they didn't like or respect the coach.RedRider1;1408557 wrote:We had a boys coach a few years ago that liked to coach "his way" and not adapt to the talent he had....but that didn't seem to draw your ire when perceived stubbornness or lack of sound coaching was pointed out by others...it was the kids' fault for not listening if I recall...now it's all on coaching again?
How convenient.
Just so there's no misunderstanding. Anna was the better team..very little we could have done that would have magically changed the game, especially asking our coaches and team to play & coach a style that they hadn't played all year. We were an up tempo team and Anna beat us at our own game.
Just like football...everyone seems to think a brand new offense or defense can be put into place in a few days and kids will run it flawlessly. It's just not that simple.
A brand new offense or defense was not called for, an adjustment in play was required and any coach should be able to make an adjustment and have more than one play in his play book all season.
How difficult is it to see that the press was being beat after the first 2 or 3 times and realize an adjustment must be made instead of waiting until the 2nd half?

Same here "Old R".Old Rider;1408560 wrote:All I wanted was a 2-3 zone to keep Anna out of the paint. Not saying it would have worked, but the fact we never forced them to shoot 1 three pointer in the entire game is beyond me. A good coach should be able to reach into the "bag of tricks" and run a simple zone...and then still get out and push tempo on offense.
But that is why I sit in the stands and not on the sideline!

I would bet this coach would say he made a mistake...the "other coach" would never have said that and did not.
