If Anna and West Holmes can win Saturday the only losses of the year for Orrville will be to two state champions. That would be crazy. IT was a fantastic season and what a year for the Lady Riders. State in Volleyball and Basketball! What an exciting trip.

I'm not sure if they even took a 3, maybe one, but then they didn't need to. We were porous on defense. The Bensman girl that scored all the points got a chewing out for being selfish because she took an outside shot in the 2nd quarter, the coach wanted all layups and in the paint shots. That accounts for their 64% shooting stat for the game. Well on to State in softball, maybe we can make it in all 3 seasons

Anna proved to be the better team...no doubt. However, I do not think they are 21 points better than us. Alberts never made an adjustment and when he did, it was WAY TOO LATE. Getting beat running a press happens, but when you are getting beat over and over, then you get out of it. Anna did not shoot a single 3 pointer and yet we never ran a zone that packed it in and forced them to shoot from outside...

The girls had a great run and they may go down as the single best girls senior class in Orrville history!

Congrats and thank you for all the great memories...now lets get back at it in softball!!!

I agree. It could have probably been a lot worse.

I would say there is a good chance to be represented in the State Track Meet as well.

Hannah could make all three seasons and so could Davault. Hannah probably has a better chance, but who knows.

Too bad as a "coach", Alberts didn't see the need to make a change himself after the 2nd or 3rd time Anna scored before the middle of the first quarter, it was happening right in front of him!

54 points in the paint and 14 free throws leaves only 12 points outside the lane :( and 24 on fast breaks.

Wouldn't be the first or the last time a coach doesn't make a change even though a seemingly obvious option was right in front of him.

Coaches are a stubborn bunch..and after playing 1 way all season, 29 games..it's tough to switch up. yes in hindsight he should have made a change. But their style worked for them 26 times this year.

Anna = State champs. Been to State 3 years straight.

Orrville = hasn't been to state in years. Made it to f'ing state, regardless.

Regardless of what the coaches in the stands think, the Orrville girls should be mighty proud. Anna was, is, and always will be the better 2013 team. Orrville had a great season to be very proud of.

To say that smacks of selfishness doesn't it? You tell the players to "leave it all on the floor", to "play their hearts out", to "give it all you've got"! Should not at least the head coach do the same?

Now you're trying to justify his lack of "coaching" because he may be stubborn, his methodology was good enough to get to the semifinals but an opportunity to play for the championship doesn't really matter enough for him to "THINK"!

Coaching includes the ability and willingness to adapt! For that comment, you should be ashamed of yourself!

And yes, the team should be, and I'm sure they are, proud of their accomplishment this year, as well as I!

Yes, it worked 26 times this year, isn't the goal to win the state championship?

You appear to be supportive of the girls team here...but on the huddle, the thread titled "Plybon the best in D3?"...and your response was..."LOL...No, not at all!" Whats up with that?

We are ALL very proud of the Lady Riders! Thanks for the support!

I'm supportive of any team. She's just not the best player in D3. Good scorer =/= best player. Is Marshall Henderson the best player in the SEC?

We had a boys coach a few years ago that liked to coach "his way" and not adapt to the talent he had....but that didn't seem to draw your ire when perceived stubbornness or lack of sound coaching was pointed out by others...it was the kids' fault for not listening if I recall...now it's all on coaching again?

How convenient.

Just so there's no misunderstanding. Anna was the better team..very little we could have done that would have magically changed the game, especially asking our coaches and team to play & coach a style that they hadn't played all year. We were an up tempo team and Anna beat us at our own game.

Just like football...everyone seems to think a brand new offense or defense can be put into place in a few days and kids will run it flawlessly. It's just not that simple.

All I wanted was a 2-3 zone to keep Anna out of the paint. Not saying it would have worked, but the fact we never forced them to shoot 1 three pointer in the entire game is beyond me. A good coach should be able to reach into the "bag of tricks" and run a simple zone...and then still get out and push tempo on offense.

But that is why I sit in the stands and not on the sideline!

I'm certainly not saying that nothing should have been done..just that coaches are slow to change in some cases.

Some would say that's panicking or changing horses mid stream...others would say that the best coaches know what to do in those situations.

Again, probably something needed to be tried...but also interesting that its open season on coaching again when it was off limits just a few short years ago.

We're a tough crowd to please in this town...and its kind of sad that some have been waiting since the district round to pin this on Alberts. I think that's really unfair.

None of this is directed at anyone in general..I think more focus should be on the season these girls had. A lot of records in the history books need to be rewritten...and Alberts is averaging 20 wins per season in his 5 years here. Not too shabby.

For the record, she'll finish 2nd in career assists and top 5 in career rebounding.

Much more than a scorer. Pretty rare for a non-post player or me-first PG to average 25 per.

So who do you think is the best player in D-3? Give us some ammo so we can sarcastically shoot you down. Never mind, it not worth it.

The center for Africentric is pretty darn good. She's going to Cincy next year.
