I feel confident in saying that coaches like Smitty probably couldn't keep a coaching job in todays PC world, he bit me head butted me and threatened to kick my A*% in the locker room more than one time. And I mean threw his sport coat off and got in my face..... He was challenging me to be better, and I get it! Kids today...... I'm just not so sure? Now I am not saying that coaching of that style is right or wrong or even needed in this case or discussion I am just saying it seems the overall expectations we, the community and parents have for our young people just isn't the same. When I was in school and a coach or teacher came down on me my father NEVER questioned the coach, teacher or staff, he simply whipped my but and told me to do what I was told. I think coaches today have to be more mindful of consquences today then in the past? Maybe thats good? IDK, but interesting to discuss....

Riders win !!!!! Beat Madison and led 7-0 and never let it get closer than 6 points all night.
And sounds like Summers will have surgery after the W. Holmes game so he has time to heal before football seasdon.

We're on a win streak, two in a row. Brice played good D as did most of the Riders as we beat Norwayne at home. Luke Smith played harder than in the past and is getting an idea of what it takes to compete at this level.

Liked the effort last night. That was one of the better Senior teams I've seen & we hung with them.
Luke Smith is mature for a freshman & Alex Smith had a career game.
Losing Summers to shoulder surgery is a real bummer. Team is starting to hit a stride.

NOT sorry about those browns, see they finally found someone who wanted to coach them, page 2 or 3 on the list of choices. Polka music on 92.3 the fan was very funny Friday morning. :laugh:BRF;1359255 wrote:It's always nice seeing riders1...........but NOT sorry about the Bengals!

Brought son & dad. First game all 3 of us have been to. Might be the last time I make it to a home game.
Lots of memories in that building. Some great teams & great players over the years.

I really like the way the Riders are fighting! Hung with a team that many think will make a deep tourney run. Keep working hare Riders.

If nothing else, guys are decisive when on the floor. You can tell the kids haven't given up on anything.rrfan;1365702 wrote:I really like the way the Riders are fighting! Hung with a team that many think will make a deep tourney run. Keep working hare Riders.

I think Sly is doing a really good job with what he has due to injuries and kids transfer out. As we all know this is a tough conference and every night there is no easy game on the schedule. I think they can make some noise in Districts. Just a side note... think if the Neer's did not transfer or Bates and Trevor and Zook were healthy, it would be interesting to see how good that team could have been. But does not matter have to play with the kids you have and they are playing hard game in and game out just seems to be times during the game when they cannot score. Go Riders!

I agree. I think Coach has done a great job. It is just amazing to me that we view Football so differently. IMO we have great Coaches there also.Coach_08;1373116 wrote:I think Sly is doing a really good job with what he has due to injuries and kids transfer out. I'm sure all involved look at the struggles we're having this year and are glad they chose what they chose...but it is interesting to think about what could have been. The Luedeman kid from Waynedale has grandparents in Orrville and attended OMS briefly too.Coach_08;1373116 wrote:Just a side note... think if the Neer's did not transfer or Bates and Trevor and Zook were healthy, it would be interesting to see how good that team could have been.
Neer's transferred because they thought they wouldn't play here. Guessing he'd be playing plenty if he'd have stayed. I'll never fault a family for making that choice though.
districts will be a crap shoot....we still haven't lost on Wooster's floor in a tournament game...EVER. But it's going to be tough to string together 3 or 4 wins in a row, but there's no dominant team there, at least not among area teams. Gonna be a lot of low scoring, sloppy games this year....and even with maybe 3 or 4 wins to our name, we'll still be on everyone's radar as THE team to beat.
Still 3-time defending districts champs until someone knocks us off.
