Campbell very well could be sandbagging it. Think it's wishful thinkin' however, as well.
Unless the Devils get real motivated real soon, this one could be over by halftime.

Go Wildcats!
Let's start out with a nice win at Knapic.

Hoping for a well reffed and injury-free game for both teams.

I don't think the current group of Seniors has ever lost to Campbell, at any level.

The struthers players know that no matter what people say Campbell will play their hardest and toughest game against struthers. They won't overlook Campbell

Watching both campbell scrimmages last night, i can tell you theit run blocking and pass protection are very below average. Misdirection by niles thrashed them, along with the short passing game.

I hope the Devils can make a game of it. This is, after all, one of the longest rivalries in the area.

Sure hope both towns come out to support their teams. I hope it's a great game.

All the off season work will be on display tonight.

Football in the valley is back. Everyone should be very excited!!

39-6 Struthers. Good game up front, good for the young ones to get 2 qtrs of varsity exp as well.

CMHS should be more concerned with the game, not the crackbacks, the late hits, and the talking. I wasn't surprised though. Why does this happen at every Campbell game i watch? Does coach Sikora not care?

Other than that, Struthers moves on to play Lakeview. Go Cats

Listened to the game here in CA., I thought the Cats played fairly well for opening day. Just need some work on the kicking game.

Sounded like a lot of injuries on Campbell's side. Struthers seemed in better condition. Having the cushion at halftime gave Struthers plenty of options to substitute which is great for the younger players.

What kind of crowd at Knapic?

Hopefully Memorial can pick up the pieces after a loss like this. They have to put this one behind them.

Good luck Struthers next week against Lakeview.

Any comments from the "hardcore" Devil fans on this site?

I know this was an ugly one, but would still like to hear some of your perspectives.

Where do you start from this?

Are you serious? Struthers played dirtier than any team ive ever seen! They were ripping helmets off intentionally to get players out for a play! Dont even pretend that theyre angels and our kids are these lowlifes.

the game went as most of us thought it would. elash (qb) won't last unless these coaches can sure up the line. the defense was "lost" out there, struthers manhandled them. our kids looked out of shape yet again, what else is there to say? as for "dirty plays" don't kid yourself, it went both ways.

Campbell kids need to be better conditioned and better disciplined. There is no way they are spending much time in that weightroom over the winter. And those kids who are in the weightroom are not working hard enough or are not being driven to get stronger in the lifting program. This varsity program has become complacent. Many of the kids don't have the dedication, the heart, or the respect for the tradition that Campbell football has. Part of the reason for that is many of these kids were not raised in Campbell. They moved to Campbell from other areas. They don't understand. I believe Struthers could have really piled up the scores if they wanted to. Kids leaving the sideline and walking onto the track to talk to fans in the stands is terrible. I saw one Campbell offensive play in the third quarter where the Red Devils had just nine players on the field. The following two plays they had ten. No excuse for that. Seniors to be need to start leading as juniors. I see a horrible lack of senior leadership, something that has become common over the past couple of years.

1 personal foul was for a mouth piece, other was a late hit by a bonehead on the team, not blatant punches #2 throwing a couple in a row, all in all Campbell won't win many games this year and it was a good beat down for struthers confidence

There were a lot more than just 2 personal fouls though.

I dont personally think any of ours were dirty. Stupid? Yes. Retaliatory? Yes. Boneheaded? Definitely. I do, however, believe they were intentionally provoked into firing back.

Does that excuse it? Hell no.

Otherwise, I agree on all points.

An undisciplined football team. Who would let their son play quarterback behind that offensive line. Who coaches them? It's unreal to have the Circus start on the first game.

Cats definitely could have really piled it on, if they wanted to. Would have been, and should have been, 45-0, if not for our pitiful kicking game. I really hope Campbell can get it together. Not just because we'll need the L2 points, but because it's sad to see Campbell in such rough shape. Good luck to the Devils!!

There is a difference between cheap shots and getting punked. We got punked. Struthers could have put alot more points on us...that was sportsmanship enough. Did you guys want them to two hand tag us? Thank god they didn't let munrean start throwing it. Like I said sikora has to go. It's obvious this isn't the kids fault. Fundamentally and schematically were light years behind and if you disagree you know nothing about football

By midseason, if not sooner, an old rumor about a former very successful Campbell head football coach that has been circulating for a couple of years will resurface. One of his former assistants has passed away. His former defensive coordinator has some real health issues. Regardless, there are men who could fill those two voids who would relish the opportunity to get this program back on track. That being said, things in Campbell have changed a great deal since those days of Campbell producing a powerhouse team year after year. So if this rumor ever comes to fruition it will be interesting to see how the kids respond. This former coach was very demanding of his players in the weight room and during the season. But he sure did get the results. Campbell has had some marginal success since 2009. But the program has not acheived anything more than a couple of conference championships and two playoff berths, losing in the first and second round. For those of us who really follow Campbell football, that is not enough. There are hundreds of people hoping that this person would come back to coach at Campbell. If he does, it may be his greatest challenge yet. I feel the city of Campbell has changed quite a bit over the past two decades. The kids are different. Would they respond or walk away from such a demanding coaching staff?

Sept. 6 at South Range 7
Sept 13 vs. Brookfield 7
Sept 20 *vs. Jefferson 7
Sept. 27 *at LaBrae 7

Brookfield and Jefferson lost a lot through graduation. LaBrae doesn't appear too strong either. All three are winnable games. A lot will depend if they can turn things around @ South Range.

Good luck to the Devils the rest of the way.
