dalton 61-35 over hillsdale. Falcons just dont have anything, bulldogs could have had 100 if they wanted. Tougher matchup tomorrow with the chipps. Also looks like the smithies are playing well right now. Might be an interesting matchup coming up with Dalton, although the first go round was not much of a game - I expect a tougher fight this time.

The Northwestern game ended in a questionable call to say the least. Okay 2.4 seconds left in the game NW down by 1, they have to go the length of the court. Smithville is guarding the guy inbounding the ball (Kline), Kline from NW starts running the baseline Smith from NW goes and sets a screen on the Smithville kid guarding the ball. Smithville kid runs into the screen set by Smith from NW, he falls over ref calls foul on Smithville. NW goes down and hits both free throws to go up by 1. I have seen teams run that in the past but the ref never calls it. Albert's gets the home cooking call LOL! Smithville actually got a good look at the buzzer but it bounced off the iron. Smithville lead most of the game up by as many as 12 or so in the first half.Tough loss for the Green.

If the screen was set properly and the defender pushed through it, then it doesn't sound like "home cooking" necessarily. But I wasn't there. A foul is a foul.Coach_08;1380300 wrote:The Northwestern game ended in a questionable call to say the least. Okay 2.4 seconds left in the game NW down by 1, they have to go the length of the court. Screen was set but Smithville player did not push thru it, he ran into the NW kid (he did not even see the screen) and NW kid fell over, IMO the NW kid flopped, (their was contact) but that is from what I saw. I had no dog in the fight so it did not matter to me, just giving you what I saw because is down at the end where I was sitting. I just know most of the time that is not called because the refs do not want to influence the end of the game, most of the time.

Sounds like the "blind" picks the mighty Titans use to run all the time when the guard is dribbling up the court...the defender never sees it and then gets called for a push...

That's the point of a pick, no? A stationary player helping relieve pressure on someone with the ball.

The ending to the game was very frustrating, however, that was not why the Smithies lost that game.

Sure is...but I question the use of a pick at mid-court while the point guard is bringing the ball up. Totally different than what happened in the Smithie/Huskie game though. Just hating on the Titans is allthePITman;1381196 wrote:That's the point of a pick, no? A stationary player helping relieve pressure on someone with the ball.

Yep - congrats to the bulldogs. They are definitely the class of the league. It was a great atmosphere in Creston and a good defensive struggle. That's the worst I have seen Norwayne look at home this year. Jordan Straub had a huge game for the bobcats - he's scored more points, but he was the most dynamic player on the floor most of the night. He just didn't get enough help.
Any reports on the other games? Sounded like there were a couple of OT thrillers.

Bobcats beat Wellington 53-43. Cats looked tired and it was pretty ugly. Berger had 18 after going scoreless against Dalton the night before.

Tournament draw today, it will be interesting to see how the Wooster District comes out. Just for fun any prediction how the seeds come out?
I will take a guess...
#1-Oberlin 14-6
#2-Waynedale 14-6
#3-Norwayne 12-5
#4-Smithville 12-8
#5-Elyria Catholic 10-8
#6-Orrville 5-14
#7-Chippewa 10-9
#8-Northwestern 10-10
#9-Clearview 8-10
#10-Keystone 8-11
#11-Wellington 7-13
#12-Hillsdale 3-15
#13-Loundonville 2-18
#14-Black River 0-19
I have Orrville up at #6 because they are the 3 time defending district champs and them and Elyria Catholic play the toughest schedule.I could see both of them maybe getting seeded higher or even lower depending what the WCL schools do. The WCL teams usually stick together but not always. Oberlin #1 because of record but they lost to Elyria Catholic and Wellington this year. So I could be way off on all my seeds lol! Lets see what happens.

I agree with much of that except I think Chippewa and Northwestern will both be ahead of Orrville.

Orrville is on a 3-game winning streak, including a double-digit win over Northwestern. Throw in 3 straight DIII Wooster district championships, and I think Orrville gets the benefit of the doubt. I really, really, REALLY doubt Oberlin gets the #1 seed, or even top 3. But at this point, we're just splitting hairs. This district is wide, wide open. I think Waynedale or Norwayne get the #1 seed. Keep in mind, Norwayne beat Waynedale by 10 earlier this year in their only meeting. The Artist Formerly Known As Mr. Russell;1386148 wrote:I agree with much of that except I think Chippewa and Northwestern will both be ahead of Orrville.

Yea like I said just a guess, Oberlin could fall down as far as a 4 or 5 seed as well. Just was thinking since they tied with most wins Oberlin is 6-0 against DII teams this year, Waynedale is 1-1. Not that coaches always look at that.

Keep in mind that Smithville just beat both of those teams. Due to the fact that this district is so wide open, you have to look at total wins. That's how can you can rank these teams fairly, because everybody has beaten everybody. Everyone has quality wins and everyone has bad losses.thePITman;1386152 wrote: I think Waynedale or Norwayne get the #1 seed. 1. Elyria Catholic
2. Orrville
3. Norwayne
4. Oberlin
5. Waynedale
6. Smithville
It won't happen that way, but Elyria Cath. has a good record with a tough schedule and Orrville wins almost every year with a bad record/tough schedule compared to the other teams in this district. I don't know much about Oberlin - maybe they should be ahead of the WCAL schools.

Good luck to all the WCAL teams in D3. Hopefully the Dogs can pull off some postseason magic!
