dalton over rittman 73 to 46 or something close to that. Rittman is..not good. Glad to see Dalton hit some outside shots tonight. That has been their biggest weakness so far.

On a side note, it was really kinda pathetic at what happened at Chippewa last night vs. Norwayne. Nothing to do with the game, but when some idiot pulled the fire alarm after what took place in CT. I really don't understand people and why they think its funny it instill fear into people after a tragedy like that, but someone needs to take that person and whoop them a good one. Darn good thing I was in Manchester or I would have done it myself.

dalton beat lake center christian in an ugly game. LCC was not a good team but better than I expected with good size. Bulldogs were banged up with c. clark out with a sprained ankle, pg jake masters left in the second half with some kind of neck injury (didnt seem too serious), and 6th man zach ryder landed very hard on his elbow and left the game. Heard he is getting it x-rayed. Hopefully these guys can get healthy by friday as northwestern comes to town.

I haven't seen Chippewa play but have read about them... I see the Freshman scores quite a bit, must be a terrific player. Anyone seen him play? Is he the real deal?

saw the hillsdale fall coming - all their good players were seniors and their jv was terrible last year. I thought chippewa would be better, but the 5-0 start surprises me. Who have they played so far? Wondering if its real or more a function of competition. No matter what. 5 wins is a great improvement for them.

He's the real deal. I saw him against Norwayne. He's not very tall, but strong for his size. He handles the ball well and showed a lot of poise for a freshman. He can penetrate and shoot well. Tyson Stoudmire (Jr) looked good for Norwayne, but the rest of the team looked rusty.AllOhio;1345602 wrote:I haven't seen Chippewa play but have read about them... Sounds alot like the Arnold kid from W. Holmes...will be fun to watch him grow as a player the next 3 yrs.. If I'm not mistaken, this is the same kid that played QB for football team? If so, obviously a good athlete.kurty66;1346042 wrote:He's the real deal. I saw him against Norwayne. He's not very tall, but strong for his size. No matter how good this kid is right now, he has a long way to go to be another Brady Arnold, in my opinion. But yes, those are very similar characteristics of Arnold. Best pure shooter I think I've ever seen, and he does it from everywhere, not just from 3-point land like other "good shooters".AllOhio;1346177 wrote:Sounds alot like the Arnold kid from W. Best you have ever seen? Wow. That is high praise. Does anyone know of any college offers that Arnold has received? Who is recruiting him? I've seen Keon Johnson from Mansfield Senior play quite a bit. Those two should have some good battles this year if Arnold has game like that. Johnson is headed to D1 Winthrop next year.

Have heard Ashland is a possibility...he's just a Jr. so that could certainly change.187xovr;1346226 wrote:Best you have ever seen? Wow. That is high praise. Yes, in terms of being a pure shooter - beautiful form, shooting percentage, and basically the amount of shots that are "nothing but net" - Brady Arnold is one of the best pure shooters I've ever seen. He's also super athletic, competitive, and a gamer. If he was 6" taller, I can't imagine there'd be a school anywhere that wouldn't offer him.187xovr;1346226 wrote:Best you have ever seen? Wow. I've seen some pretty good high school players in person in my short life - Lebron James, Romeo Travis, & Dru Joyce, OJ Mayo & Bill Walker, David Lighty, Jacob & Jon Diebler, Dequan Cook & Norris Cole, Raymar Morgan, Adrienne Payne, Jared Sullinger & Tre Burke, Aaron Craft, Andrew Wiggins (#1 prospect in class of 2013, best player I've seen since Lebron), and all the others at the state tournament last 6 years, etc etc.
Of all those, OJ Mayo and Jon Diebler were the best "pure" shooters, IMO. OJ Mayo was super smooth, and Jon Diebler had lots of teammates to get offensive boards that allowed him to shoot an astronomical amount of times.
But in terms of having the picture-perfect jump shot, high release point, follow through, and shooting percentage, I would take Brady Arnold. Nick Dials from Willard, Jordan Jennings from Fairless from the early-to-mid 2000's, and Drew Frizell from Smithville would be on my list of great shooters, too. Played against Dials in the Eastern Ohio summer basketball camp, and obviously Triway faced Jennings many times.
Again, I just wish Arnold had Jon Diebler's height. He'd be unstoppable. But because of his height and being somewhat slow (compared to the afforementioned players), he obviously doesn't make the cut for the best overall player I've ever seen - not even close. But he may be the best for his size. Then again, I've never seen Keon play. I've heard he's pretty tiny, and really really good.

Three HUGE games tomorrow for the league race.
The upstart Chipps head to Waynedale to take on another team that was picked well ahead of them by many in the preseason.
Many people's two favorites for the league battle as Northwestern heads to Dalton. Both have played in some close games this year, so that will not be anything new, as this should be a good one.
Perhaps the most heated rivalry, the balanced 5-0 Smithies will go to Norwayne to take on the Bobcats, who would love more than anything to give them their first loss.

Dalton over Northwestern 69-63. Bulldogs were in control in the first half and led by 10 at the break. They were completely outhustled and outrebounded in the second half and lost the lead, they got complacent and it nearly cost them. Some clutch shots by Moyer and Huth in the 4th to get the victory. Moyer with 31.

Norwayne 56 - Smithville 39
It was very close until the 4th quarter. Dreher, Stoudmire and Davis were in double figures for Norwayne.

Looks like the league is pretty balanced. Once Norwayne gets thier legs under them, I think they will be near the top with Dalton, Waynedale and NW. Chippewa is improved but has not really played anyone yet. They caught a break getting Norwayne at their low point. Anyone know how their freshman guard did against a good team like the Bears? Chipps could move up to 5-6'th finish. Rittman and Hillsdale battle for last place.

basically agree with havin' fun
The road to the championship goes through Dalton
Norwayne, Northwestern & Waynedale are the contenders
Smithville still has alot to prove. The 5 wins were over teams in various stages of rebuilding or free fall. Next 5 games will tell us much about the Smithies.
Chippewa has a bright future with their freshman phenom. The present is 4th place at best.
Rittman & Hillsdale will spend the season paying their rebuilding dues.

Where did this Chippewa freshman comes from? Just spoke to a guy who said he was at the game last night and this kid is no better than 5-6 other freshman in the league who just can't make varsity rosters on better teams? He said Chippewa was actually better when he was NOT in the game.

I was at the game last night. This freshman maybe the 5th best player for the Chipps. Without Reeves or Downs Chippewa would not win one game this year. From what I saw this kid thinks much higher of himself than he ought too. If he scored it was maybe 2 or 4 points. He does have a quick move to the basket which a nice hard foul would slow down rather quickly. He can't be 5'5". Just what I saw.

Is this the same kid that was the QB in football?
I still haven't seen Chippewa, Rittman & Hillsdale yet this year. I was under the apparently false belief this kid was the reason they were off to the big start.

The Chipps kid is a transfer from Barberton not the QB from football. I heard also he is very cocky but does have some talent.

It is the QB from football. Also, just because he had a rough night doesn't mean that he isn't a good player. He came into the game averaging 19 PPG. I don't care if that is against JV teams, most varsity players in the WCL couldn't do that. I think Chippewa will be at their best if Austin Durbin starts contributing and giving about 10-12 PPG. That is what they are going to need to compliment Breitenstine.

I find it interesting after just 3 games into league play that only the Dawg's are still undefeated. This season is already proving to have lots of intriguing match ups and surprises. Dont count out any of the so called top 5 or 6 teams. The one left standing will have to defend the home court, cause 2 losses may get you an outright championshion, and 3 may get you a tri-champion. Only time will tell how this season finishes.
