I've seen Keon Johnson from Mansfield Senior play quite a bit. Those two should have some good battles this year if Arnold has game like that. Johnson is headed to D1 Winthrop next year.
Yes, in terms of being a pure shooter - beautiful form, shooting percentage, and basically the amount of shots that are "nothing but net" - Brady Arnold is one of the best pure shooters I've ever seen. He's also super athletic, competitive, and a gamer. If he was 6" taller, I can't imagine there'd be a school anywhere that
wouldn't offer him.
I've seen some pretty good high school players in person in my short life - Lebron James, Romeo Travis, & Dru Joyce, OJ Mayo & Bill Walker, David Lighty, Jacob & Jon Diebler, Dequan Cook & Norris Cole, Raymar Morgan, Adrienne Payne, Jared Sullinger & Tre Burke, Aaron Craft, Andrew Wiggins (#1 prospect in class of 2013, best player I've seen since Lebron), and all the others at the state tournament last 6 years, etc etc.
Of all those, OJ Mayo and Jon Diebler were the best "pure" shooters, IMO. OJ Mayo was super smooth, and Jon Diebler had lots of teammates to get offensive boards that allowed him to shoot an astronomical amount of times.
But in terms of having the picture-perfect jump shot, high release point, follow through, and shooting percentage, I would take Brady Arnold. Nick Dials from Willard, Jordan Jennings from Fairless from the early-to-mid 2000's, and Drew Frizell from Smithville would be on my list of great shooters, too. Played against Dials in the Eastern Ohio summer basketball camp, and obviously Triway faced Jennings many times.
Again, I just wish Arnold had Jon Diebler's height. He'd be unstoppable. But because of his height and being somewhat slow (compared to the afforementioned players), he obviously doesn't make the cut for the best overall player I've ever seen - not even close. But he may be the best for his size. Then again, I've never seen Keon play. I've heard he's pretty tiny, and really really good.
