UVA obviously isn't the same team as they were in December. Not sure any acc team would've beaten UVA tonight. They brought their A game and that always seems to happen when Duke comes to town.
The question is Duke loses tonight them loses to Miami or UNC next week. Then loses an ACC tournament game that's 6 losses maybe 7. 3 seed? Lowest 2 seed?

God this team seems like a #10 seed....I pray they don't sneak a 1 seed somehow.
The tournament will be impossible.

Given how this season has gone...Duke will smack down Miami on Saturday.

Sorry. I can't agree with that sentiment. Miami is the most veteran team in the league and if memory serves dominated in Cameron for much of the game last year. I believe Miami is the better team at this point. Duke may win but it'll be a close one.

Coack K upset about how the 'rushing the court' went. Sorry but my response is: wahhhhhhhhh

http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/9001926/duke-coach-mike-krzyzewski-concerned-player-safety-fans-storm-court-following-loss-virginia"When we've lost in the last 20 years, everybody rushes the court," Krzyzewski said, as quoted by The Associated Press, insisting he was raising a concern but not trying to take away from Virginia's victory. "Whatever you're doing, you need to get the team off first. Celebrate, have fun, obviously you won. That's cool, but just get our team off the court and our coaching staff before students come on."Duke has lost four games this season, each on the road -- defeats at North Carolina State, at Miami and at Maryland preceded Thursday's loss. Fans stormed the court at every venue.
"Look, do you know how close you are to -- just put yourself in the position of one of our players or coaches," Krzyzewski said, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. "I'm not saying any fan did this, but the potential is there all the time for a fan to just go up to you and say, 'Coach you're a [expletive],' or push you or hit you. And what do you do? What if you did something? That would be the story. We deserve that type of protection.
"I'm always concerned about stuff like that, especially at this time of the year. What if that happened and we get a kid suspended? That becomes the national story. It's not all fun and games when people are rushing the court, especially for the team that lost. Again, congratulations to them, and they should have fun and burn benches and do all that stuff. I'm all for that. They have a great school, great kids, but get us off the court. That's the bottom line."
So he wants the fans to wait until the opposing team gets to the locker room before storming the court? LOL
Also, he dropped an F bomb at a UVA student during the court storming.

He was expressing concern for his players' safety. What any coach would do if he believed his players were in a precarious situation. The reailty is that beating Duke is different than beating any other team in the country. When teams beat Duke, the arena turns into a spontaneous rave. That's what happens when you have won more games, been ranked in the top five more often and acquired more national championships than any other team over the past 25 years.SportsAndLady wrote:So he wants the fans to wait until the opposing team gets to the locker room before storming the court? Good. That's one of things I admire about him. He's willing to speak his mind. I enjoy people like that. It's something I admired greatly about Bobby Knight. That fan you speak of also got in a Duke player's grill. Step off, b-tch, or you will be taken the f-ck down.Sports wrote:Also, he dropped an F bomb at a UVA student during the court storming.

Lol though......I mean you know the hate of him by so many. Could you imagine what some college kids would do to him with the adrenaline of just knocking his ass off and rushing the court. I guarantee it's brutal. Lol
As for getting the team off the court....there's no way for that to happen as everything is Hank Aaron's #715 times 1,000. If a player or coach ever does get hurt it'll be the end of it happening in this day and age.
If he's really that concerned he could have his bench players ready and the 5 on the court could be near their exit and they could maybe go and wait for the winner at their locker room.

Roy did this against Florida State.
I don't agree with it, as it basically says F you to the scrubs.

What I do not admire about his pompous ass is his hypocracy....talking in the postgame (or an interview afterwards, I'm not sure) about how the teams need to be let off the court so that no fans or students can say anything to him or the players....after he dropped an F-bomb on someone who did.reclegend22;1398326 wrote:He was expressing concern for his players' safety. He would have made a much better case if he had just ignored the ignorant student and made his way into the locker room and then discussed the need for safety and no one verbally (or physically) accosting him or his players.

Dook players and coaches were not in ANY danger last night when Virginia fans rushed the court. They had an entire row of security ushering them off the floor.

You are willing to put your bench players, the scrubs, in the way of danger. That is wrong. I didn't agree when Roy did it, but I understood what he was trying to do.Ironman92;1398360 wrote:Not sure how it says F you to the scrubs.

I noticed this last night as well. You could tell by his demeanor that Coach K was pissed as hell the entire second half, and it just came to a head after the game. The guy's human, so give him a break-he was just channeling his inner Bobby Knightwildcats20;1398361 wrote:Dook players and coaches were not in ANY danger last night when Virginia fans rushed the court. The video posted above clearly shows the stadium security cordoning off a clear pathway so the duke players and staff could exit the floor safely. To be fair, it does not show what, if anything, went on between the floor area and the locker room.
Some of coach k's concerns might be a result of postings on social media.Plumlee mentioned that he had been threatened on Twitter, which I suspect is not an uncommon occurrence for high profile players everywhere.

I didn't mean the scrubs. In a 5 or 6 point game you know it's over when there is a certain amount of seconds left and the opponent has the ball. Just hustle off the court with 2 seconds left and there shouldn't be any issues.
But again....nothing severe has ever happened that I know of. Soccer may be different.

I think Coach K's ire peaked after Rasheed Sulaimon was T'd up for having the nerve to question the referrees by uttering "All ball!" I'm surprised he wasn't kicked out of the game for the grimace he made.vball10set;1398369 wrote:I noticed this last night as well. lol, I get a kick out of it when he gets down on one knee and talks to the ref, 'cause you know he's not asking how the wife and kids are...reclegend22;1398376 wrote:I think Coach K's ire peaked after Rasheed Sulaimon was T'd up for having the nerve to question the referrees by uttering "All ball!" Lol. No, he's most assuredly not. I love when Coach K does that. I liked how Dino Gaudio summed it up, "When Coach K gets down on his knee, that means he is giving it to him good." I'd love to have heard that "conversation."vball10set;1398387 wrote:lol, I get a kick out of it when he gets down on one knee and talks to the ref, 'cause you know he's not asking how the wife and kids are...

That post was more aligned toward wildcats and the more obvious anti-Duke crowd.SportsAndLady;1398541 wrote:You know I don't hate duke or coach k...this just seemed ridiculous to me as a completely unbiased observant.
But I will say it again, all coaches complain about one thing or another, but player safety is one that I don't think is ridiculous. Players have been injured before during court rushings. There were Virginia fans visibly addressing Duke's players from a close distance. As Coach K mentioned, what if one of them dediced to make a move? All hell would break loose. They happened to have a line of security personnel serving as a barrier between the bench and mob of students last night, but many universities do not. What happens when there is no barrier? Does an overly aggressive student, believing he is hidden by the hoard of rushers, kick or go after an opposing player in the middle of the melee? It's definitely a possibility. Not to mention, once again, the possibility of accidental injury.
I'm also just not big on storming the court. For a school like Virginia, an ACC program who has been to Final Fours and seen national players of the year call its building home, it's just embarrassing. You play Duke every single year and share the same conference. Act like it.
