Coach K wants to work with Kyrie Irving again. He has said he regrets not getting a full season to help him develop. No place better to develop than on the international stage.

Our resident NCAA compliance expert Prescott will be by any time now to properly discuss the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro SS rental car that is linked to UNC star P.J. Hairston and a convicted felon.

Been waiting on you to mention this. :)

Honestly, it doesn't look good for PJ. It may end up not being as bad as it seems, but I highly doubt it. I'll sit back and wait to see all the facts, rather than taking the word of those jackasses at Pack Pride, but it's definitely a worrisome time for Carolina fans.

It is difficult to be an expert when the NCAA compliance office is so inconsistent. If they choose to use the USC model of punishment then UNC is in some real trouble. If they choose to use the duke model of punishment then UNC has nothing to worry about.

During his time in college, Reggie Bush received tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars in lavish gifts from boosters directly tied with the USC program, including a personal chauffeur and limousine.

Corey Maggette, a poor kid from Chicago, received a small amount of money from an AAU coach used expressly for travel expenses associated with attending national tournaments while an underclassman in high school. The NCAA determined that Duke did not know about the gifts and had no reason to, therefore Duke was not implicated of any wrongdoing.

The comparison is ridiculous.

Hey cc:Good call on Kelley going in the first round.

keep trollling.

If someone is not forthcoming it is reasonable to assume they are hiding something. Thomas was not forthcoming and showed his true character by not doing the honorable thing. You can spin it anyway you want, but, until something else is proven, I will think that Thomas did something or took something he knew to be in violation of NCAA rules while playing for duke.He was dirty just like Maggette was dirty.

Aaric Murray out at WVU. Eligible immediately. He was a dominant center at LaSalle. Any chance Duke gets involved?

I haven't heard anything, but I suppose there's always a chance. As the recent past has shown, K is definitely not opposed to looking outside the box if there is an area on the team that needs filled.

From everything K has said up until this point, however, the center position at Duke next season will likely be filled by committee, with Amile Jefferson providing a leaner, more athletic and lighter on his feet big man option, and a young Marshall Plumlee giving the Blue Devils a traditional low-post seven-footer who wants to play under the basket.

At this stage in the game, I personally don't see Duke adding anybody new to the roster. Yet I would welcome it, if only because the youngest Plumlee is still very raw.

It sounds as if Murray was kicked out of Bob Huggins' program due to problems related to drugs, according to various reports that I've read. And similar behavioral circumstances or differences were reportedly involved in his departure from LaSalle.

No way he ends up in Durham.

If Huggy Bear kicked someone out...he is probably a bad kid who has broken the law quite a few times that isnt public.

Disagree about Duke needing Plumlee to develop. I bet he doesn't average more than 4 ppg and will play a far backseat to Hariston, Jefferson, and Hood.

They need him to develop because he's a 5-star player. If you're not contributing 2 years in, you're likely being recruited over and phased out of the future plans.

I agree, for this year, Duke is going to live and die by their outside shooting, depth at the 1,2,3 spots and on Coach K with match-ups.

Marshall Plumlee was a 5 star recruit?

Maybe he wasn't a consensus top 25 player, but he was pretty close. Overall ended up like in the high 30's/low 40's in the combined rankings if I'm not mistaken.

He was a McD AA simply because he was going to Duke. No other reason. If you watched him in HS, you would agree.

Rivals had him 79 and Scout had him the 10th best C...so probably around the same as Rivals. He was pretty far from a 5* from those services at least.

Made me look it up.

Scout 68. Rivals 79. ESPN 35. Composite 58.

Slightly off, but he should still contribute at some point.

Marshall's career also got off to a slow start on account of suffering a stress fracture to his left foot before practice even began last year, in what was his redshirt freshman campaign. That injury caused him to miss the first eight weeks of the season, and then an ankle sprain in his first game back limited the kid's development even further. So, in effect, this year will really mark Marshall's first wholly healthy year at Duke.

With three full seasons left in Durham, I fully expect Marshall to develop into a valuable contributor in the future. Maybe not this year, but certainly as a junior or senior. Some players just take longer to reach their potential. As Laley pointed out, the youngest Plumlee was never as polished as the recruiting rankings/accolades indicated. But he does have the size and athletic ability to eventually become a solid presence in the middle for Duke.

Yeah, when two non-Duke fans on an Ohio forum are analyzing Marshall Plumlee, who averaged 0.1 points and 0.6 rebounds per game last season, then there is very little to discuss. Lol.

Duke won't live with outside shooting. Duke will operate like an NBA team and there won't be many sets to speak of. Lots of free lance play and utilizing their superior wing play.

Duke doesn't have to develop Plumlee at all. He was the lesser of the talented brothers and doesn't have the physical tools that older brothers did. He can play the game and contribute as much as he can and graduate and become another valued member of the Duke basketball fraternity. To say there was a future plan involving Plumlee assumes that K tells players they are in future plans. He does not tell them this.

If you go to Duke you work your way into playing time and the plans are created at that moment. No playing time is promised and Marshall knew that going in. He will continue to practice and will get time in games when it is best for him and the team. Brian Zoubek hung around for 5 years and played sparingly for 4 of those seasons. We all know how his last season went. Zoubs wasn't in the plans at season's beginning but played his way into a starting role by showcasing his skills. Plumlee will have to do the same.

Wondered how long it would take for somebody to post that picture here.

Coach K is a graduate of The United States Military Academy and served our country for five years. The above photograph was taken during Duke's recent trip to West Point, where the team participated in a shooting range drill using fake laser guns (which are in the picture). Last season, the Blue Devils traveled to Fort Bragg in North Carolina for early-season practice and to partake in military training. Nothing to see here.
