it doesn't mean he hasn't been great all season long.

He is one of the better shooters in the country, but he has had some bad nights. Ohio State comes to mind and,of course, Miami. There is no doubt he has had a few other less than stellar games.Great all season???? No.

When Curry plays well your idol worship is over the top. When he plays poorly it is only fair to point it out.

Curry's story is told by the boxscore. No need to watch.

This is the point in the season where Andre Dawkins would come in handy. The only bright side to Andre red shirting this year is that with Andre back next year, Duke is going to field one of the deepest and most talented scoring teams it's had in awhile on the wing with Dre, Rasheed, Hood, Parker and Matt Jones. And also throw in Cook, who I suspect will be very good as a junior.
Andre Dawkins will not play again for Duke!

This is a lot closer than I thought it would be. I figured it would be 15+ at half in favor of the Dookies.

Duke is relying on a 165 pound powerforward for defense and offense. This illustrates the importance of Kelly. Ugh.

Rasheed is killing it today from downtown. Sulaimon hit his first six from beyond the arc, and has a career high of 23 points with almost eight minutes left. Duke needs to finish strong here and win by double figures. No four corner bull----.

Mason Plumlee ended the game with one of the most impressive, mid-air, put-back reverse dunks I have ever seen at the college level. Awesome. It capped a quiet yet overall solid day for Plumlee, who finished with 19 points and eight rebounds.

Sheed Sulaimon will be the best perimeter player in the country next year, in my view. I have a biased view. Lol. But he has the assets to be truly a great player in the coming years. He dropped 25 today and shot 6-of-8 from triple land.

Red Rider,

Honestly, unless you divulge the origin of your source, none of us here can believe any of your definitive statements. You do understand that, right? You very well might know somebody close to Duke, but it's not believable unless you elaborate as to why you believe you know what you say you do.

Rasheed Sulaimon will be back at Duke. He's not anywhere close to a lottery pick, which he would be in the 2014 draft.

Today was definitely a good day. Awesome dunks above, by all. The Len dunk was very impressive. He is going to be an outstanding pro one day. He has amazing foot work and great touch around the basket with the ability to finish (see above). If he adds an 18-footer to his repertoire, Len would be a Rik Smits clone.

To the one who suggested Alex Murphy be the one to fill in for Kelly during the injury. Note the game yesterday.

Alex played one possession, missed a defensive assignment, had a late switch, attempted to draw a charge and caused an and-1. Alex was then subbed out and didn't see the floor again.

K talks about Alex needing to believe in himself more and to get the confidence of teammates. Its puzzling how little he plays but I am not at practice so I have no idea but during games he does seem defensively aloof when he has to play near the basket.

I was the one who mentioned him maybe getting more minutes with Kelly out. He just needs some game time to get acclimated with how fast the game is and how quickly he needs to rotate and be in the right position on defense. I just wish he could've got some more PT earlier on in the season against teams like: Georgia State, Florida Gulf Coast, Elon, and Santa Clara. Those were all fairly easy games for Duke and in those games he played a combined 9 MINUTES.

Now I know Coach K knows what he's doing, and I am just a stupid 20 something year old on a message board but damn Murph is a freak athletically and I would love to see him develop.

Duke finally woke up from its nightmare in Winston-Salem and beat Wake Forest, 75 to 70. To the Demon Deacons' credit, it was their first conference loss of the season. Jeff Bzdelik is slowly rebuilding Wake back into a basketball power in the East. But, my god, that was scary as hell.

Mason Plumlee played like the front-runner for ACC POTY with 32 points and 9 rebounds. Seth Curry added 21 on one leg.

Isn't Wake 3-5 in the ACC?

Nice to see Duke FINALLY win a road game. :D

I forgot to qualify that statement with "at home."

Duke is always going to be short on "true" road wins to start the year because of the neutral site-heavy schedule that K likes to implement each year to mimic NCAA Tournament sites. Aside from the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, there is rarely a true road game outside of the ACC schedule on Duke's early itinerary. Add in Ryan Kelly's injury, and the ACC on the road is a nightmare.

So that's what it is?!? All this time I just thought K didn't want to play true road games because he was afraid of losing them. :D

Just messing with you, rec, so don't get too upset with me. lol

I got you. And yes, that is actually the strategy. And the strategy works. Four natty's and 11 Final Fours, one away from the all-time record. Besides, true road games mean absolutely nothing. They might make you "mentally tough" -- so does playing in the best preseason tournament each season and playing eight road games in the ACC -- but you aren't going to play Butler at Hinkle Fieldhouse in the NCAA Tournament, so what's the point. Play Butler in New Jersey or Kansas in Chicago (like Duke is next season) like you would in the NCAA Tournament and get used to that type of environment.

And it's not like Duke shies away from home-and-away series'. Up until the last couple of seasons, Duke played St. John's, Michigan and Georgetown for years, and will likely pick up another elite program in a similar agreement soon.

Also, since we are on the discussion of Coack K's scheduling practices and the idea was presented that Duke's lack of "true" non-conference road games is a sign of fear, I found these stats pretty interesting.

Strength Of Schedule Stats Since 2003 (the last 10 years):

Duke
#1 SOS rankings: 3 (2012, 2009, 2006)
Top 10 SOS rankings: 9 (2012, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003)
Average SOS: 5.8

Let's compare Duke's SOS numbers to a random team that I will pick out of a hat. Let's say, North Carolina.

UNC
#1 SOS rankings: 0
Top 10 SOS rankings: 4 (2011, 2008, 2007, 2003)
Average SOS: 13.1

Again, it's great that UNC has played at Santa Clara and College of Charleston throughout the years, but, in the end, those games are really insignificant. There is virtually nothing to gain by it, except for a loss. (UNC lost both those games, by the way.)
