I'm serious man. Watching him get starts like he's an elite young player in the league and him batting 1st or 2nd....ugh nightmares.

His swing can only hit a ball on one plane and many of his hits 3 hoppers to the left side that he can leg out. Home to 1st and in the gap he's as fast as anyone....but he is not good at going around the bases and how the shit can't he dive or slide and catch a ball? Honestly.

Listening to Welsh and Grande or whoever spew about the things he is so great at.......puke

Dusty will do his best to piss me off....but he lost 1/2 his ammo.

And then many times when he guess right and it is a FB down the middle he can't hit it anyway.
This is a good point. It's not just that he can't hit certain pitches or certain types of pitchers. I like Stubbs too. By all accounts, he's a cool dude and actually works pretty hard to stay in the shape he is. I'm just not sure he really can do much more as a baseball player.

I'm not sure if this also explains his inability to bunt. However, a lot of bunting is reading the ball out of the pitcher's hand. Who knows. I still root for Stubbs.

He also lost Rolen, so there's another one he can't blindly run out there every day.

He has great mechanics and he should be around for a long time to come....or maybe he's fast now and can't hit worth a shit making him a valuable part of our everyday lineup.

Dusty pissed at Kirk Gibson because he didn't want to use the DH and wanted his pitcher to hit. Baker refused to shake Gibson's hand.

This is not an Indians thread. Please stay on topic (or at least don't mention him)

Will be interesting where Chapman ends up. I want him as a starter as I think he can be dominant as there is in the league. The pundits believe he will end up being the closer thojgh.

Closer. Dont think hes a starter. He can't sustain 100 for 3 straight days and 1 inning. So I think that means starting he'd be throwing 94-96 and when he's done that, ,hes been hammered. I just don't believe the offspeed stuff is good enough yet.

Some could argue that trying to throw hard, 97+, and your warmup pitches three nights in a row is tougher then starting every 5th/6th day.

Chapman actually gets hit as hard at 100 and 101 as he does 96. When he controls his fastball, throws the slider and has any semblance of a change-up, he can easily be a starter. He might be a starter who maxes it out at 6 innings, but the fastball speed and whether other teams make contact seems to not matter.

This is just what I've noticed, and it makes sense. Guys can hit 101 as easily as 97, if they know that is what is coming.
