You don't have to get a job in Toledo though, there are a lot of surrounding cities that flourish in the need for jobs.

lol I think the fact they have a basketball court in the indoor facility, an extra 10 yards in the football facility and a putting green that the golf dome down the street from me has will set them apart from anyone in the world! Including the Cowboys, Cavilers and Padraig Harrington.

Academic standards arent the greatest, as I stated before the city itself has nothing to offer and yes this does matter to a lot of students. In fact part of campus is in a pretty bad part of town. My kids laughed when Toledo sent them info. In fact my oldest said why would I go back to high school. Then my second son chimed in and said I have spoken with 3 different college advisors and they all stated stay away from Toledo. He asked why. They stated what I said above. Not much to offer.

Have you ever stepped foot on UT's campus???? If not, which is the feeling i'm getting, you have no idea what you are talking about. The school is in a better part of Toledo than where OSU is in Columbus.
Not much to offer???? One of the first schools to offer an Alternative Energy program the COUNTRY ( OSU doesn't offer that.... FYI), A top 20 Pharmacy program (OSU doesn't have that either) and a Top 50 engineering program. I think you and your kids need some new College Advisors.

Also if you say there is nothing to offer in Toledo..... then why do kids go to BG or Ohio U because we all know there is nothing in Bowling Green or Athens except townies?????

I went to Toledo the last four semesters, but am transferring to Ohio State because, quite frankly, their programs outside of Pharmacy, Nursing, Engineering, and Pre-M/D/V are uninspiring to say the least. They're obliterating their Arts and Sciences College and pumping all their fucking money into those programs. Their belief is it's better to be fantastic in several programs than mediocre in all of them. Truth be told, that is probably indeed the best short-term option.

How many football players are getting into Nursing, Pharmacy, or Engineering? Not too many.

Let's approach the topic of their campus, it's remarkably beautiful north of Ottawa River. South of the river is mediocre, but nothing to shy away from. I personally don't like the look of the Crossings, Carter, and International Houses; it's just cheaply done in my opinion but I admit it's rather moot. What about the people that attend the university? Toledo loves the students from Toledo Public Schools....far too much. I had two roommates drop out because they weren't prepared for their arduous workload. The assumption that because they are the first person in their family to go to college qualifies them for Pharmacy is laughable. The result is a horrendous retention rate and classmates who are annoyed because the campus population is about as ghetto as it gets.

Simply put, Toledo is a joke. From the a administration to the students. A bunch of second-rate professors and kids who see college as a continuation of high school. I've had a few professors that I would consider remarkable and knowledgeable (the* fuck from Owens they brought in to do math was a prime example of the usual professor. If I wanted a professor from Owens, I'd go there). My friends that go to Ohio State say they've had one or two professors that aren't remarkable.

Nonetheless I think their football team will flourish.

BA degrees are worthless. It actually is better for a school to have strengths rather than be satisfactory across the board. So I agree with their belief that they should excel in certain programs. They also excel in the right. Those are the programs that kids go to school for these days, not history and other BA degrees that do not result in a career.

Also, if I am employer I would rather have an associate that excelled in certain areas and could improve in others than just just have an average employee that will noever go anywhere.

I think Toledo is definitely heading in the right direction. The new indoor facility looks awesome! The renovated Savage Arena is top class. And of course the Glass Bowl is one of the best stadiums in the MAC, if not the best. Toledo has some of the finest facilities in the MAC and one of the prettiest campuses in the country. I like their incoming class next year for football. Signing E.J. Tucker from Toledo Rogers was a steal! That kid is a damn good athlete and can't wait to see him on the field. I'm really liking the fact that Toledo is recruiting and signing more local talent. The city of Toledo produces a lot of great talent year in and year out and UT is recognizing that.


I believe Toledo is going to regain its status as a MAC powerhouse in the next few years.

What the hell are you talking about? What part of campus is in a pretty bad part of town. You want to talk about a campus being in a bad part of town, let's talk about Cincinnati. And even that, Cincinnati is a beautiful university.

^^Of course you wouldn't think the university isn't in a part part of the city, you went to high school on Cherry Street; it can't get much worse than that. Sure you can point to Ottawa Hills, but nobody lives near Ottawa Hills, it's just where the classrooms are. The students, outside of that shithole they call the "quad," live south of the river and are in relative hood. Kids get assaulted, robbed, stabbed, and shot more often in the southern part of campus more often than the University likes to admit.

hahah I said I was in the Engineering College at Ohio State. I flirted with getting into Political Science, which indeed is in Arts and Sciences. Ask any professor that is in Humanities, they absolutely hate Lloyd Jacobs. He wants Toledo to compete as a topnotch research university, and that's fine. But not everything is peachy when he pumps millions into his nascent green energy programs. They're dropping humanities professors left and right and diminishing the already-mediocre quality of their programs across the board.

I lived in a quad freshmen year, all of us are brights kids, none of us will be at Toledo next semester. Ohio State, Ohio, Colorado State, and California-PA. all just gained a student. As previously mentioned, the retention rate is horrendous, and they know it. When hundreds, if not thousands, of their TPS crop flunk out after their first semester and hundreds more transfer because they are annoyed with a university that just wants a check from them (they didn't get it from me, I was on a free ride ).

Any professor in the know what validate all of that information I've posted.

Not the whole university, just the flowers in front of the clock tower. I have been all over UT campus and have never thought, wow, this place is nicer than OU, Miami or BG. It is not bad compared to other metro campuses. Looking south of Door or east of Douglass is not the appealing.


The Glass Bowl has a large pressbox, the stands are not that great, EMU and NIU have better seating.
