With the addition of the new 100 yard indoor complex complete with full basketball court, golf chipping range, full 100 yard field (one of few schools that have a full 100 yarder), sand running pit, and 6 100 yard track lanes. Also with Coach Tim Beckman (along with a very strong staff of over 20 national championships in any college division) being in his second year with Toledo in having a strong class of 2010 recruiting commitments. The coaching staff has already gotten around to offering class of 2011 players and bringing them in to see the impressive place. Will Toledo eventually become a MAC powerhouse? Why or why not?

I think so. They've been on the cusp a few times already, especially when Gradkowski was there..

They've fallen off a bit, but with the new facilities, they definitely have the upper hand...

Speaking of Gradkowski, the game he and Omar Jacobs went at it was probaby the greatest game I've ever been to.

I think UT went down 27-3 at one point, only to come back and win something like 48-41... Ugh, I don't remember lol...

^44-41 in Double OT. I was at that game as a student at BG. And yes, at one point BG was up 24-3.

And to the OP, not to come off as mean, but Toledo was one of the "original" schools that put the MAC on the map. They were THE program in the MAC until Marshall joined, and as Ltrain mentioned, continued to be good through about 2006. It is only the last few seasons they have fallen off.

all that you really need to compete at a high level in the MAC is a quality coaching staff. look at Central Michigan under Kelly and then Jones. Their recruiting base isn't very good, their facilites aren't head and shoulders better than anyone else in the conference. but they made two great hires, and compiled two good staffs and have dominated the conference recently. The facilites at Toledo are good, and certainly help the cause but they need to get the right coach in there. Beckman had a decent debut season and could be that guy, but only time will tell

Yes, assuming they can get their running backs to stop fixing games.

I hope so, I never understood why such a big school would be struggling in the first place. Their a smaller schools who are much more dominate nationally.

Beckman is turning the program around and I believe that they will be at the top of the MAC in the 2011 season

I think Beckman is a terrific coach, I think you'll see improvement in their play over the next few seasons. They have a wealth of talent, I'd almost say they were the most talented team in the MAC last year. Eric Page and T.J. Fatinikun are going to be a stud. Toledo has a lot of things going for it right now. They've been pouring money in that campus for a decade now and it's going to start paying dividends soon.

Toledo's practice field is only going to be from goalline to goalline? Why wouldn't they include endzones on their practice field?

I would agree...they are probably one of the very few schools that have a 100 yard practice field. But one would think if they were building something new and putting all this into it, they would add the extra 20 yards for the endzones.

Look at Ohio too. Bad program for years, with little D1 talent surrounding the school. However they have been solid since Solich has been in town

There is an extra thirty yards at least. I figured everyone would understand that cause when you say a 100 yard NFL field or football field you instantly know the endzones aren't counted.

Maybe this is why my tuition was so high the last couple years before I graduated. Good to see though...

Kent has more problems than an indoor field can solve.

Actually Toledo has a phenomenal incoming class of 2014 plus the have a great 2013 QB coming back and Eric Page. Eric Page was a freshman All-American. What problems could Toledo actually have?

The city itself. I know quite area athletes who wont even look at Toledo because of the city in general. Toledo has no jobs to offer after graduation and its hurting.
