I honestly dont know if he could recruit anyone. He has no ties anywhere... Even new coaches getting their first chance at a HC job have been recruiting as assistants for 10+ years, usually.
That's a very good point. And as you alluded to earlier, after decades of being pretty much surrounded entirely by women and the women's game, I think it would be incredibly hard for him to jump onto the men's side and relate and communicate with the men anywhere near as effectively as he does with women. The psychology of women's sports is so much different. That would be the biggest obstacle.
Also, he'd pretty much have to scrap his entire staff, because they are all women and I very much doubt any of them would be able to connect with male players at the ACC level. Maybe I am not giving them enough credit as professionals, but I think I am right on this. Auriemma would pretty much be starting from complete scratch in almost every aspect in a completely foreign planet.
Suffice it to say, if Duke hired him, Chris Collins and Steve Wojciechowski would sue Duke University.

Collins does all that because he is the associate head coach. He will be a great coach somewhere it just won't be at Duke-let's just say I know someone very very close to the program-very close!reclegend22;1344870 wrote:This is more what I was going for, Red Rider.
My Chris Collins hunch is just that, a hunch. I based that solely off of the fact that Collins handles pretty much all of the in-game (half-time and post-game) interviews that Coach K defers to his staff, has been responsible for the recruiting of more of Duke's biggest stars than any other assistant on the current staff (Duhon, Re**** and Scheyer among them) and has been around the Duke program since 1992 (when he arrive as a player). Wojo would also be an excellent choice as well, if the new coach is in fact going to be from the program's family.
Have you read something different, Red Rider? Or do you just think Wojo would make a better coach? Just curious.

Thanks fot the jinx there Laley...........Laley23;1340508 wrote:lol, maybe. But honestly, they should win that game by 15-20 pts. Dunham and Clarke wont have seen defenders like IU can throw at them all year.
Thought IU played a bit selfish

Cant wait for OSU/Kansas. Should be a telling point for OSU. Duke was first road game and still early. I think they have improved a lot since then, but tough to really tell because of who they have played. This will be a great test.vball10set;1345618 wrote:from 11W, fwiw

After that, not to excited about anything until conference play lol. B1G should be fun 5 nights a week this year. Really excited about the season, for one of the few times ever, to see up to 10 of the B1G teams. Usually its IU and a few others. This year, its IU and about 7-8 others...in other words, at least a game a night should have my attention.

^^^ I agree, and I just posted that link for discussion purposes. IMO, Indiana's still the cream of the crop in the B1G, with tsun a close second. I do, however, agree that OSU has been progressively getting better, but as you said, Kansas will be a true measuring stick on how much better.

Detroit Mercy on a 12-point run in the final minutes of its game at Syracuse. The Titans within 67-59 and at the line shooting two with 1:29 left.

Syracuse is in big trouble. Turn this game on. 67-64 Syracuse with 29 seconds left. The Titans with a furious rally here at the end.

Detroit is a very good team when McCallum and Anderson get going. Should've beaten St. John's in Jamaica earlier this year. They have some baffling losses though to Bowling Green and Toledo.

68-64. Syracuse built a huge lead and then checked out. Can't flip the switch to turn it on again. Thought they won Boeheim number 900 and focus went out the window. Sloppy.
